You got home from a long day from work and once you entered your apartment you heard the song: Careless whisper on the boxes. You walked in to the living room and almost screamed when you saw your boyfriend, 2D, sitting on the floor. He was surrounded by pictures that got burned and pieces of glass that were coming from all the broken picture frames.
‘Stu what the….’ you whispered as you looked at his face and saw tears falling down his cheek. You took a better look at the picture and felt your heart drop when you saw the face of his ex.
‘I am sorry Y/N,’ he mumbled as you looked back at him. ‘I love you, but this stupid song came on and…’
‘It was your song with them wasn’t it?’ you asked as you kneeled in front of him. He nodded softly and he looked away ashamed. He didn’t even dare to look you in the eyes. You sighed softly and grabbed his hands and pulled him on his feet.
‘Dance with me’ you whispered as you placed your arms around his neck. He looked a bit shocked at you and didn’t know what to do exactly.
‘Everyone has his own way of getting over someone,’ you said as you smiled softly. ‘Let me help you.’
Stu placed a kiss on your forehead and let his hands go to your back.
‘How did I ever deserve you?’ he whispered as you two slowly began to dance. You placed your head on his chest and chuckled.
‘Trust me 2D,’ you said. ‘I have been through my own share of heartbreak. But when I met you, everything changed. I don’t want to lose you, so if I can help you get over this. Then I would love to.’
And that is how this song got a strange meaning to 2D, but he didn’t think of his ex when he listened to it. He always thought of you now. And how you both had danced the night away.
