Germany 2020: 2 € 50 years of The Warsaw Genuflection. The German government has decided to have a 2-euro commemorative coin "50 years of Warsaw's kneeling" minted and to issue it in October 2020. The coin commemorates Willy Brandt's kneeling before the memorial for the heroes of the Warsaw ghetto, which celebrates its 50th anniversary on 7 December 2020. The national page was designed by the artist Bodo Broschat from Berlin. The motive shows the moment of the knee fall of the then German Chancellor as a gesture of humility in front of the memorial for the heroes of the ghetto in Warsaw. The composition impressively depicts the reference to the 1943 ghetto uprising. The design is worked in extremely fine relief technique and picks up strong symbols: the seven-armed candlestick, the ghetto victims and the knee fall, about which Brandt himself later wrote in his memoirs: "On the abyss of German history and under the burden of the millions of murdered, I did what people do when language fails". The European side corresponds to the common value side of the 2-euro circulation coin used from 2007. It shows a map of Europe without national borders. The technical parameters of the 2-euro commemorative coin correspond to those of the "normal" 2-euro circulation coin. The coin edge of the German 2-euro commemorative coin contains the inscription in deepened minting unchanged: "UNITY AND JUSTICE AND FREEDOM" and a stylized federal eagle. The circulation intended for circulation is expected to amount to 30 million copies. • • • • #germany #Warsaw #kneeling #2euro #2euro2020 #eurocoin #eurocommemorative #WillyBrandt #ghetto #numismatic @numismatica.castaldi https://www.instagram.com/p/B4msb6ZAege/?igshid=eh6m0kgiai7
