2GETHER: THE SERIES (2020) episode 1 // episode 9 ↳ sarawatine + kiss till you drop
Ok, sorry but I have to make an other post about Win's acting. The way Tine smiles at Sarawat now, or when he calls Sarawat his boyfriend gets to me so much. Because he's not just happy to finally be in a relationship with Sarawat, but you can actually see the excited trepidation in his face over being in his first relationship with a guy. He feels all of the things when you discover something new that you like. It's exciting and fun and a little scary, but it's a good kind of scary. And you can see and feel the absolute desperation in his expressions to keep this relationship a secret until he's ready to come out in his own terms. Win Metawin, man, idk how he captures all of these feelings so well, and on his first acting job too! This kid is going places.
I absolutely loved Sarawat's confession at the end for a number of reasons. The part that gets me most though, is when he says his and Tine's relationship is not a coincidence. "It's because of us," he says. Sarawat and Tine aren't together because of coincidence, fate, or because Sarawat prayed/wished for it. It's not something predetermined. Soulmate stories are great, but stories where a couple puts in the work to be together - to stay together - just feel different. A couple that chooses to be soulmates in spite of all the obstacles they will face is fucking euphoric.
I forgot to mention this in my previous post, but can we take a moment to appreciate that 2gether the series, a non-western queer show, is being recognized and celebrated on such a grand, global scale. That's so incredible and important!
Win is a really good actor. The progression of Tine's feelings for Sarawat has been gradual, and Tine's realization of those feelings has been taking it's time, so maybe people might not notice certain things about Win's performance. But from the beginning, Tine and Sarawat have been sharing soft, vulnerable moments and lingering stares, it's just that in episode 5 we can really start to see Tine almost connecting the dots. Tine's face looks more unguarded, he's staring longer, and there just seems to be something different to his expressions that wasn't there before. And that really speaks to Win's acting.
It's not just the popularity of 2gether the series that's impressive, but the rate of growth of that popularity, for the series and brightwin, is really something the likes of which I've never seen before for a bl series and it's leads. And I know it sounds super cheesy but I'm so proud of these boys. They're so considerate of their audience - of their queer audience. I see the weight of importance this series, this genre, carries for so many people is not lost on them. And I hope this is just the start of many great things for Bright and Win.
Episode 1 really came for the BrightWin haters 🤣🤣
Bright, flipping me off and wearing a shirt that reads, "no mames". My one true king.
