Just added eye colors
It was bound to happen one day: High School AU.
In order of appearance: 2K-Dragon: Baseball Team Hell’s Hand: Class President Scarecrow: Creepy Kid, Bookworm Draco: Auto Shop Griz: Bully Cait: Girl Scout Zack: Swim Team Ashe: Bookworm Rosa: Cheerleader Felix: Track Team Rebecca: Socialite/Queen Bee Miller: Professor
Artwork done by @stubbykeno, I just did the line art.
@the-exiled-draco owns all but Zack, Ashe, and Rosa (the third set of characters)
A while back I posted some photos of a little idea I had since January. Pretty much syncing songs from Hamilton to @the-exiled-draco ‘s story. And these are the finished results.
I’m happy with how all of them came out, though by the time I got to Darek and Ashe I was getting a little tired. I made one mistake with Miller’s image, but when I tried to fix it, the quality just looked horrible. Oh well.
Enjoy~
I’ve been working on this AU since January and I’m now finally getting around to drawing each character out. Finished the first two tonight.
Long story short: I had been binge listening to the Hamilton soundtrack all month of January and February and ended up drawing parallels between these two characters and the song 10 Duel Commandments.
Yes, I know the song is about the duel between Laurens and Lee, but this is my AU and I’ll fuck up continuity how I want to to make it fight the characters more.
Also, I had thought I had filled all the spots I wanted to, but I found one more character that I had forgotten that would fit one song perfectly. I had originally dropped that song since I couldn’t think of anyone to put it to, but last night I found him. He’ll show up eventually when I get around to drawing the rest of the cast out.
Both characters belong to The Exiled Draco.
Stairs
“Come on, 2K, or we’ll miss the fireworks!”
“Ashe, we have three minutes! And we’re going to be watching them from your rooftop, so it’s not like we’re not fighting for a spot in the masses.”
Ashe just chuckled and just continued to pull 2K up the stairs, “I just want to make our New Year’s kiss to me...well...picture perfect. You know, with the fireworks and everything...”
“But no one’s going to take the photo.”
“So? It’ll be in my mind.”
2K just rolled his eyes and pulled her to a stop, wrapping his arms around her, “Well, what if I just want a New Year’s Kiss without the fanfare?”
“Then I guess it’ll be who can out-stubborn who.”
He laughed, “Then we’ll be here all night and miss everything!”
She turned in his arms and pecked his nose, “You know I can always just go up without you.”
“Can you get out of my arms?”
“I can try~,” she said, trying to slip through his arms, but he kept holding on tighter.
“Nope! Not letting go.”
Ashe growled as her phone pinged, letting them know they have only a minute left to get up to the roof for New Years. “Please?”
2K pretended to think about it. “What’s in it for me?”
“It’s already just going to be the two of us, and you still get a New Year’s kiss. Just not in a cramped staircase with the skyline of Manhattan behind us.”
“And fireworks?”
“I thought you didn’t want the fireworks.”
“I was kidding. Why the hell would I not want fireworks?”
“Good, because I stashed a few boxes of them up on the roof we can set off ourselves.”
“Why didn’t you say so earlier!? Let’s go!” Now he was the one pulling her up the stairs.
Pantry
“You don’t have to help, 2K. We’re fine with just the four of us.”
“Yeah, but an extra set of hands can help get this over and done with quicker and then I can have you all to myself sooner.”
Ashe sighed as she walked into Kon Chow’s pantry. It was Christmas Eve and the staff was gearing up for a hectic Christmas day, “You’ll have me all day tomorrow.”
“But I want you tonight~” he said, wrapping his arms around her waist and started to nuzzle her.
“2K! That’s not helping!”
“I know~”
Ashe tried to pull away, but 2K wasn’t budging. Sighing, she shuffled forward and grabbed the wonton wraps, garlic, and ginger. “Do you really want to help?”
“Yes.”
“Then can you hold these for me?”
“Why?”
“Because, since you’re here, we can hold twice as much and we can take less trips to grab ingredients. Then, I’ll be done faster, and you can ‘have’ me tonight.”
“Yay!” 2K let go and held out his arms, which Ashe placed the ingredients into.
“Right…we need a few more things…” She reached up and grabbed some vegetable oil, chicken broth, cornstarch, sugar, and white vinegar.
“What are you making?”
“You’re holding some of the ingredients for dumplings, I’m just grabbing a few things we’re running low on up front.”
“Are you going to help make the dumplings?”
“Maybe, I know how to. It depends on if they need the extra hands. Why? Do you want to help?”
“…If it gets you free faster, then yeah, if I can.”
Ashe chuckled and rolled her eyes, “Alright, let’s see what else is needed and how fast we can get this place up and ready for tomorrow.”
Wine Cellar
"You know...there's probably plenty of places you can get wine, Ashe. And just as old." 2K lightly groaned, never seeing the big deal in this kind of stuff. Then again, he wasn't one for wine, nor alcohol of any kind.
"I'm not here for the wine. Just the history behind this room." She looked down at the booklet she picked up for The Deering Estate, "Look, if you don't want to be here, you can go out into the woods and get lost there. Just be careful of the poison ivy and poison oak."
"Oooooooo, so cruel." Snuggles up against her, nuzzling her cheek. "I'll stay in the smelly cellar with you."
"It's not that smelly and you know it," she chuckled, nipping at his ear. "Still...it's really fascinating...It's hard to build anything underground in Florida, much less right on the water like this place...AND have all this during the Prohibition..."
"When you need your booze, but it be illegal, gotta think dangerously!" One or two of the other visitors ahead of the two dragon Beasties turned and glared at his disrupting tone. He just looked behind him, acting innocent.
"Why do you think it's behind that huge safe door?" She just rolled her eyes as the others looked their way, "Still, better this stuff than bootleg gin or moonshine. You can tell he had money, even in the Depression."
Looking up and down the racks, 2K arched his brow. "I'll never understand the craving for this stuff, people go nuts about it. Especially if it's aged like they say...probably makes people lick their lips looking at these bottles."
"Too bad all of these have been ruined. Says here the room got flooded once, which is what caused the safe door to get stuck, then again with Hurricane Andrew, which destroyed any remaining liquor. But this place holds wine tastes apparently." She shrugged, "I don't know...Some people probably like the feeling it gives them."
2K couldn't resist snickering, being given that little bit of information. "That's gotta suck, bet the owner was pissed when the door got stuck." Then get looked around, as if he was spooked. "Maybe he haunts this very room!"
"...I don't think his ghost haunts this place. I think he was dead when it happened. Hold on," she said, rifling through the booklet to the bio of the Charles Deering. "Yeah...he died 1927, so I was wrong about him and the Depression. The first flood was in 1945." She glanced up at him, "Though...speaking of ghosts, supposedly a Native American haunts this place. He's angry the burial mound was disturbed."
"....Well that's nothing new." 2K rolled his eyes, poking the booklet. "Maybe Griz can tell his ancestors chill out?"
Ashe just groaned, "Wrong tribe, 2K." She flicked the booklet, "Well, I've seen all I wanted here. Anything you want to look at? Or should we hit up that pizza joint just outside here?"
"Pizza would be delicious. And less aged too." 2K nodded, truly once again proving to Ashe that taking him to such places only brought out the impatient child that he was. Maybe next time she'll finally remember....not likely.
Boiler Room
The room was dark, the only noise coming from the large boiler that hid the two dragons. Above them, the sounds of blaring alarms and running feet could be heard as the NSR soldiers and bots frantically searched for them.
“You just had to trip the alarm. Announce our presence to the whole facility,” Ashe growled, pressing a hand to a gash on her arm where a bullet grazed her.
“How was I supposed to know they fireproofed the bots?”
Ashe sighed, “It was bound to happen eventually. The biggest thorn in their side is a hot headed fire dragon Beastie. Making sure their toys last against him would be a priority.”
2K just smiled, “I’m honored they think so highly of me. They custom built their bots just for me.”
Ashe groaned and looked up at the ceiling, “…This isn’t the time to be joking…”
“When would be a good time to be joking?”
“Maybe when we’re out of this mess?”
“Aw, but then it wouldn’t be as fun.”
“…” Ashe just rolled her eyes and got up, heading towards a shelf she saw when they rushed into the room.
“What are you doing?”
“Looking for a first aid kit. Need to clean the wound.”
“I can help you there,” 2K said, a small flame lighting up above one of her fingers.
“We need to be quiet, you cauterizing the wound will have me screaming and bringing everyone down on us again.”
“Oh…Right…”
But before Ashe could open the first aid kit she paused and looked up at the ceiling again, “…It’s…gotten…quiet…”
Before 2K could reply, the door opened, light shining on the two. There was a moment of quiet before the soldier raised his gun as the two dragons rushed towards him before he could pull the trigger.
