Summary: "Now, I realised that as much as most of us call fairy tales as overrated and exaggerated versions but somewhere and somehow even we wish to have for own selves, for us to remember and for us to tell.. It happened with me as well but by the time I started hoping for one, I didn't realise that it might not be the type of ending I wished but I still didn't wanna give up"
"Wow, Mr Lee that's an amazing write up and I can't wait for the book to be published and read it but please, excuse my curiosity but there is more to it right? As in it feels this is actually from your own perspective like from your life experience or something?"
"Ofcourse, it is dear Lia but wait for the right time though."
Chapter-1 Hate You
“Good Morning Mr Lee, here are some of the updates for the morning that would take you in for a mini ride .”
“I really hope these updates are of some worth; considering how they are the usuals, just about the records being sent to other concerned authorities and receiving back the replies”, said the tall black haired guy to his colleague whose name was Taecyeon. “Well, that's the basic going on but anyways, we have got confirmation from the head to lead an extensive research team and also to set the camps around the scenes where crime has taken pla-
“Woah, how did the Sun rise from the west! Anymore updates?”
“There is something peculiar pattern found in all the victims’ bodies and as well as the background they come from but t-”
At this point the black haired guy frustratedly pulled his hair. “But what Tae?”
Taecyeon took a deep breath before continuing, “The head has requested the national forensics department to join our investigation under the leadership of Dr Kim.”
“No, man!! They are those typical b-
A knock came on the door before Taecyeon called the person inside “Excuse me sirs, but Chief Superintendent General sir is calling you both”
“Thank you officer San! You may leave but keep me updated about the Giva case.”
“I will sir and as of now, a small inquiry team has been set up” officer San said before saluting the two officers and leaving the premises.
A firm knock was placed on the door before a ‘faint come in’ was heard. “Sir, you called us?”
“Yes, I did. Junho and Taecyeon have a seat. So, the sudden rise in crime has shocked not only the whole country but globally there is a spread of fear and worry. From, what we expected to be a cold blooded murder as a part of the revenge or vengenance, there is a lot more to it and by now Taecyeon might have told you by looking at the patterns, the victims’ backgrounds and how they are possibly linked to the area 71 and abandoned streets of Seoul and Busan. Its just not a coincidence; there is more to it from what we believe. Therefore, the division has taken the decision to include the forensics team under the lead of Dr Kim. I hope you will cooperate with each other. Any further questions?”
“No sir” The voices were heard in unison. “Good, you may leave and Dr Kim will be joining from tomorrow.” The Chief Superintendent General said before dismissing the young men.
“You don’t seem that happy when you heard about Dr Kim, is everything okay?” Taecyeon placed his hand over Junho’s shoulder.
“Its not Dr Kim but one of his team member. Dr Y/N, she is the reason why I am frustrated, as my headache now will turn into migraine and as much as I wanna avoid her but she somehow comes back into my life.”
“Is she that bad?” Taecyeon asked while raising one of his eyebrows. “I mean, I don’t know what actually happened and now we literally loathe each other’s presence at least she does.”
“What about you?”
“I also don’t like her presence-
“There is a difference between not liking and loathing someone and their presence. Anyways, I will find solutions for you, okay?” Taecyeon said before hugging him.
“Y/N, did you hear the news?” Jennie asked with a bored look. “What news Jen?”
“We have to work under Dr Kim on the new rise of mystery murders by the serial killer along with the national police.”
“You gotta be kidding me. No? Why?” Y/N said with a worried look. “Why are you so worried and upset? Scared that the serial killer might come and be like surpri-
“Oh shut up!!! T-thats not the case.”
“Then?”
“Him?’
“Him who? Oh wait! Are you sure that he is still in there?” she said with a surprised look.
“Yes, I have seen his pictures with Tae.” Y/N said with a slight pout.
“Y/N, its been ages!! You two can’t act like this! What was the actual reason for it though for what happened between you and Junho” Jennie with a disappointed look.
Y/N sighed deeply before speaking , “It had been way back to high school. We were acquaintances or maybe friends but some misunderstandings happened and there was no clarity but at the same time I didn’t wanna confront him, considering how his friend circle was. We were at each other’s throat and still are. Just looking at him, I still get furious but sometimes I feel is it valid? And his actions justify my emotions for him, anyway we need to get ready for the meeting.”
“Then, why did you act like you didn’t hear the news? Because you wanted to talk about him, huh?” Jennie smirked which earned her a smack. “Ouch, it hurts!” she whined. “I mean, its you we are talking about. The way you present stuff is great.” You said with a small smile before rubbing her shoulder where you smacked.
“So, guys this is our new home till the investigation gets completed. Please try to make your acquaintances while me and Chief Superintendent General will have a minute’s talk.” Dr Kim said and with that he went out for a short conversation.
Throughout the little interaction glares and hot stares were exchanged with little venom dripping through sharp responses.
“We met again Y/N. Hopefully, you won’t be as much as the pain you were before.`` Junho said as he put his hand forward.
“As much as you might be kinda happy to trouble me but I am not in the mood. So, if you wanna save yourself from a prescription of heavy doses of painkillers and consultation with a doctor, STAY AWAY FROM ME!” You sad with a stern look while shaking his hand.
“Didn’t knew that this little ant would be so brave.” He said with a small smirk.
“Well, I think you forgot that as much as an elephant might harm the ant with its power but a small movement and bite is enough for the elephant to surrender. I hate you Lee Junho”
“Likewise Y/N”
With that the two of you went back to your colleagues and started the discussion of this new coming challenge.
Your mind is racing while you stare down at your hands in your lap. Of course, Junho called you because he wants sex, he just wants to get off, he doesn’t actually care about you. Of course, not, you’re nothing to him, you should have learned that by now you should have just deleted his number and left him in your past completely, but he’s an addiction, breaking any addiction is difficult. That’s what you keep telling yourself so that you don’t feel as bad about being hopelessly trapped in the palm of his hands.
Junho coughs pulling you from your mind making you realize you still hadn’t answered him. You aren’t sure what he asked anymore, you just know that it alluded to sex which you had momentarily let yourself forget that, that was all Junho uses you for. You let out a heavy sigh uncrossing and then recrossing your legs shifting uncomfortably in your seat preparing yourself for what you’re going to say to him. It takes a lot of preparation because you know that this is most likely going to be the brutal end to whatever this relationship is if you can call it a relationship that is.
“Can we just stop,” you mumble softly playing with your hands in your lap nervously, “it’s tiring,” you attempt to keep your voice sounding strong turning your head away from your hands to meet Junho’s gaze instead Junho looks confused which you wouldn’t expect any other emotion from him, “you don’t love me, you don’t even like me,” you say flatly sinking your teeth into your bottom lip, “it’s been going on long enough,” you say with a sigh turning your head towards the ceiling his eyes burning through you and making your facade rapidly crumble.
“What are you saying?” Junho says exasperatedly moving to the seat next to yours instead of sitting on the opposite end, “you’ve never been like this before,” Junho says exasperatedly resting his hand on your knee which you quickly pull away from.
“Don’t touch me,” you snap glaring in his direction his startled expression mirrors your internal emotion your heart pounding so hard against your ribcage, “I’m done Junho, I want a real relationship, I want to be really in love, not whatever this is,” your voice finally breaks and your last words come our choked.
Junho drops his head no longer trying to convince you to stay and no words slip from his lips. You let out a scoff pulling yourself to your feet and walking away from the table. You hear Junho’s table move but you don’t turn back keeping your eyes on the door in front of you.
“Can we talk longer?” Junho startles you resting his hand firmly on your shoulder making you turn to face him, “do you really think I don’t like you?” Junho’s voice is soft and it sounds comforting to the ear you almost find yourself relaxing against his touch, but you don’t let yourself.
“No, I don’t,” you say calmly managing to keep your eye contact with him, “I’m leaving,” you say flatly pushing his hand off of his shoulder and turning away from him once more.
The beach was gorgeous and the day was warm and sunny with a light breeze in the air, a perfect setting to go out and enjoy the weather and go swimming. Yet here you are, sitting on the towel beneath an umbrella with your knees pulled up to your chest. Nothing was really wrong other than the fact that there were gorgeous women everywhere with such perfect bodies, they didn’t even seem real.
Wooyoung was enjoying the water with a few friends and you felt jealousy at the fact that he had no reason to be self-conscious. He was handsome with an amazing body. You loved your bikini and so did he, but you couldn’t help imagining how much better the other women would look in it.
He glanced over it you and you quickly covered up how insecure you felt by lying down and pretending to read a book. He waved at you with a big grin on his face and you waved back, smiling only because of how warm his smile was. He ran over to you and kneeled by your side. “Why are you still out here? Aren’t you going to go swimming?”
“No,” you answered shyly and looked back at the open book.
“Why not?”
“I just don’t want to...” Your face started turning red and you tried hiding it behind the book.
He sat next to you, made you look at him, and lowered his voice, “Sweetheart, what’s wrong? You love swimming.”
“Maybe I’m just afraid of open waters.”
“We’ve been dating for three years and it wouldn’t make sense for you to willingly come if that were the case.”
“Maybe it’s a new phobia I’ve developed.”
He sighed, shook his head, and stood up and walked over to his friends. He was talking to them and they were nodding, but you couldn’t hear what was being said. They looked over at you and waved goodbye as Wooyoung walked back. He started packing up your belongings.
“What’s going on?”
“I told them that you weren’t feeling well and so we’re going home.”
You stood up and followed him to the car. “You don’t need to leave because of me. I’ll take a taxi home and you can stay here.”
“No, we’re going home together so you can tell me what’s wrong in private.” He caressed your cheek and tenderly kissed your forehead.
You were standing in the bedroom, in front of a mirror, and slowly untying the various straps to your bikini. Out of nowhere, Wooyoung hugged you from behind and kissed your shoulder. He gently swayed you in his arms and asked, “Now, please tell me why you wouldn’t swim and why you’re so obviously judging your reflection?”
You bent your head down to face the floor and watched his reflection through hooded eyes. Sighing, you caved in and vaguely explained, “There were so many gorgeous women at the beach today who had amazing bodies...”
His eyebrows furrowed and his eyes watched your reflection. “Do you not realize just how gorgeous and sexy you are?”
“Stop,” you whispered and avoided his eyes.
He turned you around so that you faced him and hooked a finger beneath your chin, making you look up into his eyes. “Listen to me: you are the most attractive woman I’ve ever come across. I love you more than I’ve loved any other living thing. I want you to talk to me about these things. I won’t think any less of you and I’ll focus on making you feel better. Promise that you’ll talk to me about these things?” You nodded. “Baby, I want to hear you say it.”
“I promise.” You shyly smiled, now feeling more confident.
He grinned and kissed you. “I love you, beautiful.”
The living room was dim, the only light coming from the television screen displaying Looney Tunes. You typically didn’t watch cartoons, but you weren’t really paying attention to it anyways. The only thing you were paying attention to was how incredibly lonely you were. You tried various things to clear your head: watching something, bathing, doing some light cardio, and reading. Nothing helped and you weren’t tired, so sleeping wouldn’t help.
All of your friends were working except for one, but you were too shy to contact him. He was, admittedly and unfortunately, the one guy you had developed feelings for. He was insanely charming and handsome to you, but you knew he wouldn’t pay any attention to you. Being a celebrity, he was surrounded by beautiful women all the time, meanwhile you were a plain jane.
You pulled up his contact info on your phone and stared at it for a few moments before shooting him a text: “Hey, Minnie. Are you busy?”
His response was almost immediate: “Nah, I have plenty of time. What’s up?”
You had to take a deep breath to slow down your heartbeat before replying: “I’m just a little lonely, but everyone else is either working or partying...” You were too embarrassed to outright ask him to come over, so you only insinuated it and hoped for him to catch on.
Your heart skipped a beat when his reply read: “Awe, no one deserves to be alone on a Friday night :( I’ll be over in a few!”
You didn’t know how to reply, so you didn’t. Instead you anxiously paced around your house, waiting for the doorbell to chime.
The brightness of car headlights shined through the living room window and you know it was Minjun, so you unlocked the front door and opened it. He walked up to you and enveloped you in a tight hug. You smelled alcohol on him, so you pulled away and asked, “I thought you weren’t doing anything when I had texted you?”
He smiled and rubbed your arms. “I was only having a few beers with the other 2PM members... except for Taecyeon. He’s filming a few things.” He stepped past you and sat on the couch, patting the cushion next to him.
You closed the door and locked it, and sat next to him. “I wish you would have told me, otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered you. Did you tell them that you were going to hangout with me?”
“No, I just told them I was tired, which isn’t entirely a lie. I haven’t drank in a while, so it’s made me a little sleepy.” He wrapped an arm around your shoulders and held you to him, soothingly rubbing your arm.
“Are you always this affectionate when you’re tired?” You giggled.
“Mmhm,” he hummed and quickly passed out. You were conflicted about whether or not you should sleep next to him, but opted against it. Instead you covered him with a blanket and curled up in your own bed. You didn’t really get a chance to hangout with him, but maybe tomorrow.
A/N: This is more of based in the future (a few years, not several).
Sorrow || Surprise ||
Your heart was on the verge of exploding. He was coming home today after two years, even though it felt much longer. You had only seen him enough times to count on one hand ever since his enlistment and it was only for thirty minutes.
You were so nervous that your hands trembled and you felt cold no matter how high you turned up the heater. The jingling of keys came from the other side of the front door and your heart jumped. The time was an hour later than the estimate you had been given for his arrival, but you brushed it off that he was probably hanging out with some friends and having a beer or two.
The door swung open to reveal his handsome, tired face that remained bright looking. His face lit up with a smile and he left his luggage at the door to catch you in his arms. You hadn’t realized it, but you had ran to him and your chest collided with his in a tight embrace. He set you down firmly on the floor and held your face in his hands, his thumbs rubbing your cheeks and his eyes studying your face, as if to make sure you were real.
“Oh, I missed you so much, baby girl,” he whispered and passionately kissed you. His lips felt and tasted the same, and you eagerly returned the much wanted kiss. “You haven’t changed one bit. You’re still as gorgeous as an angel.”
“And you’re still devilishly handsome.” You pecked his lips and walked over to his luggage. “Let’s get you settled in.” You each grabbed a bag and started unpacking, placing everything into its designated drawer. “How was your time in the military?”
“Eh, it was fine. Made some new friends. Had a few guys ask me if they can get an autograph for their daughter. I can’t really complain, even though there were a few guys that teased me about being an idol. Why is it as hot as Hades in here?”
“Oops... My anxiousness made me feel a little cold.” You chuckled and went over to the thermostat, turning it down to a cooler temperature.
You sat up in bed, excitedly waiting for Chansung to come out of the bathroom and join you in bed. After a few minutes, he came out wearing boxers and a black t-shirt, and his hair still wet from taking a shower. He looked so breathtakingly handsome and his presence made you officially feel at home. Ever since his enlistment, nothing felt quite right.
He chuckled and ran his fingers through his wet locks. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
You shyly giggled and looked away, staring down at your hands. “Sorry, I guess I’m just happy you’re home.”
He crawled beneath the covers with you and pulled you to him so that you looked at him. “I’m happy to be home.” He kissed you and reached over to turn off the lamp. In the dark, both of you got comfortable and snuggled, needing to be near each other. Now that he was with you again, his scent filled your lungs and quickly relaxed you, soon drifting off to sleep.
Your throat and lungs ached and burned. Your feet endlessly pounded against the forest floor as you ran as fast as possible. There was no escape. Everywhere you looked, there was a fallen tree blocking your path. In a panic and stuck at a dead end, you frantically turned in circles, looking for a hidden path.
Unable to find anything easily accessible, you made the hasty decision to crawl beneath a fallen tree. You felt something tugging at your jacket while you were crawling on your belly, whining at seeing that a jagged branch had torn into the leather. More adrenaline pumped through your veins when you heard growling, and so you removed your jacket and threw it into some unseen undergrowth, hoping to throw off your scent.
With the tree no longer overhead, you stood up and returned to running. You were scratched up, bruised, and filthy, but the only thing on your mind was survival. The muscles in your legs were about to give out and you were relieved to see an old, sagging cabin ten feet away.
There was barking echoing through the forest, but you couldn’t tell from where and how far away. ‘Just make it to the cabin,’ you kept thinking to yourself. You had no idea how you got here, but it didn’t really seem to matter.
You finally reached the cabin and crawled through one of the broken windows. You winced and nearly cried out in pain when a remaining shard of glass sliced open your thigh. Once through the window, you limped around until finding the entrance to the basement and nearly fell down the stairs.
The basement was dark, damp, and filled with boxes covered in mold and faded permanent marker. It smelled horrible and you were close to gagging, but swallowed it down. You cowered into the darkest corner crowded by boxes, rearranging them so that you would be well hidden.
You had completely forgotten about your slashed-open thigh and were shocked when you felt something wet. Remembering, you tore off cloth from your shirt and tied it around your thigh, wincing at the sudden pressure. You pulled the collar of your shirt over your nose to stifle the horrid odor.
It took nearly six minutes for your breathing to finally even out and right when it did, you heard it. The wolf that had been chasing you was now in the basement and three feet away. It was smelling around, looking for you. You had hoped that it wouldn’t find you, so you didn’t think about what to do if it didn’t work out.
Barking came from the other side of the boxes and you screamed, immediately regretting it. The wolf lunged at the boxes, crashing on top of them. You felt claustrophobic with the boxes crushing you. You looked up to see the wolf’s snout poking through the top, snarling and snapping at you.
You sat up in bed, screaming and crying. Your body was covered in sweat and your muscles ached. Something shifted beside you and you looked to see it was Nichkhun. He groggily sat up and rubbed sleep out of his eyes. “Sweetie, what’s wrong? Did you have a nightmare?” He pulled you into his arms. You instinctively wanted to pull away, but didn’t.
“Yeah, it was horrible...”
“Do you want to talk about it?” He rubbed your back and kissed the top of your head, trying to comfort you.
A/N: I’m starting this series based around six emotions: sorrow, fear, loneliness, anticipation, greed, and surprise.
The day was going great so far. You had gotten a raise, the work day was cut short thanks to your supervisor’s wife going into labor (her water broke in the middle of the office), and now you were going home to Junho. He used to always beg you to stay home and not go to work, so he was certainly going to be surprised and happy.
You stopped by your favourite cafe and bought two cups of coffee, snatching a few cream and sugar packets on your way out, and two blueberry muffins. Usually you walked home, but today you hailed a cab. The interior of the car smelled awful, so you hid your nose in the bag of muffins. The warmth coming off of the muffins caused some humidity to build up on your face.
The cab stopped in front of your apartment complex and the driver told you the total. You gave him some bills, telling him to keep the change as a tip. You probably over-tipped, but you were only really focusing on spending time with your boyfriend.
You walked up the stairs until reaching the landing in front of the apartment. You held the bag of muffins in your mouth and the cup holders with the coffees in one hand, so that you could unlock the door with the your one free hand. It felt like you were juggling but wanted to avoid dropping everything at all costs- especially the hot coffee.
You came into the apartment, closed the door with your foot, and set everything on the dining table. “Babe, I’m home! We were released early today.” You slipped off your shoes beside the door and started trying to hunt down Junho. “It was the damnedest thing. Rick’s wife went into labor. Her water broke in the middle of the office. She had stopped by to give him a homemade lunch, but before she could even give it to him, everyone heard a gushing sound and then a splattering.” You laughed at the thought of the janitor having to clean it up while clueless about what it even is. “Everyone freaked out, especially the men.” You walked into the bedroom to find stuffed suitcases and Junho packing another one. “Where... are you going? Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry if I forgot about 2PM having a tour!”
He didn’t even look up at you and the aura he gave off felt cold. You felt unwelcomed. “There’s no tour. Not even a concert.” His jaw was set and he slammed the suitcase closed, roughly zipping it shut.
You wanted to cry, confused and rejected. “Then... what is this? What’s going on?”
“I’m leaving. You spend so much time working, it’s like we’re less of a couple and more of roommates.” He grabbed suitcases, nudging one between his arm and side, and pushed past you.
“Excuse me? And what about you? I accepted your busy schedule and never even once thought of leaving you for it. Why is it so difficult for you to accept my busy schedule? Because the roles are reversed?” He didn’t give an answer and continued walking for the door. “Is there another woman?” He paused for a moment and walked out the door, into the parking lot. There you saw a woman waiting in a running car before Junho closed the door behind him.
Out of a wave of anger, you grabbed the two hot coffees and threw them at the door, along with the muffins, as if they would somehow hit him. You screamed at the door, directing your hatred at it for allowing him to leave, and threw a nearby vase. You continued to throw things until you were out of energy and positive you wouldn’t get your deposit back.
Exhausted, you leaned against a wall and slid down into a sitting position with your knees to your chest. Tears welled up in your eyes and you viciously swiped them away, refusing to cry over a man that was no longer in your life. A part of you that was still desperate for him wondered how long he had this planned. He obviously didn’t expect you to be home, but yet he was still so cold. What happened to the Junho you knew?
It felt like your heart was about to explode, both from the noise pollution in the airport and from adrenaline. You tapped your ticket and passport against your knee for the millionth time and rechecked that it was for a flight to Tokyo. You had only ever been to your home country and South Korea, so flying to a whole new country where you could barely even introduce yourself in their native tongue made your nerves on edge. Your flight was called and you rushed to the gates, barely giving guards a minute to check your information.
The flight wasn’t too bad; it was pretty typical for coach. Snacks were the typical peanuts and pretzels and they occasionally handed out beverages. The only negative incident was that the man sitting next to you had originally come close to fighting you for the window seat. He only calmed down when security told him to either sit down or leave the plane with no ticket refund. There had been no children to kick your seat or cry and the man would sometimes mutter in attempts to start a conversation, but realized he was no good at holding one and gave up. He was flying to Tokyo for business and you felt like an idiot and must have seemed delusional for saying you were going for Taecyeon without specifying who he was to you.
You got off the plane and got a cab to the hotel that he was staying at, already knowing the fake name he used. It was difficult to persuade the staff that he was your boyfriend, but they eventually believed you and gave you a keycard to his room. You quickly placed your luggage into his room and started straightening up. His room was a mess of clothes strewn everywhere, so he must have been running late.
Your plan was to spend a few days with him here and then return to Korea so he can continue the tour. You had considered surprising him backstage but decided against it, because there was no flight that was just at the right time for you to arrive in time for the concert but not too early to where the surprise was ruined. You didn’t know how long it would be until the concert was over, but busied yourself with organizing everything.
You were lying in his bed when he came into the hotel room, sweaty but happy. You jumped out of bed and ran to him, jumping on him and clinging onto his neck. He smelled awful, but you suppressed any gags and planted a kiss on his lips.
When you pulled away, he was grinning like an idiot. He was absolutely head-over-heels for you and you knew it, but never took advantage of it. “My precious angel is here,” he whispered and rested his forehead against yours.
“I am.” Your hands stroked his hair as you spoke, “I hope you don’t mind sharing a room with me for a little bit.”
“Of course not! I know that you’re incredibly stubborn and refuse to use my money, even though your job is rather shitty...” What he said made you flinch a little bit, but you didn’t deny it; it was true. “What are you doing here? Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, everything’s perfect. I just wanted to surprise you.”
