Note:
Once again I got distracted listening to this song and spent what little time I have making doodles related to it. It happened with the Ob Malleus headshot/Oswalt comic (ref 1), the unreleased kind of Ob Malleus x Oswalt, and now THIS. Now, I haven't watched the Blazing Jewel thingy, but I hear that Malleus dramatically arches his back when he does the yell, like how I always imagine. The bonus comic is just a cute scenario I imagine that I really want to make.

MY HAND AHHHHHH IT'S SORE, BUT I MADE IT ON TIME. Look, last year I couldn't do a finish drawing to celebrate TWST JP 5th anniversary. SO I made it my goal to do it this year. I will finish my ramble another day because it's like 2:00 am here.

Alright, I have returned. Overall, this was very fun. I used an image I found on Pinterest as a base for this doodle, although very modified. I am starting to realize how much I enjoy doing a painterly style of layering stuff on top of one another, as I did with the background and furniture. I still hate doing line art, and for some reason, Epel had to be redone multiple times. This piece would be much cleaner if I spend more time on it but I gave myself a time limit so there is not much I can do.
Also since we got a reveal of grim PJ, that mean I had to update the sibling PJ as well, which was mainly a color swap because Oswalt pajamas are still so funny to me. Especially when you consider the other first year are all wearing layer are just cozy looking. Then, their Oswalt who look like a depressed middle age man, which will never not be funny to me. (I think I made a similar joke in past posts (ref 1, ref 2). So yeah.
Also I didn't forgot Oswalt tattoo you guys are just losing your mind

OG Artist note: AT LAST I HAVE DONE IT. I finally finished this piece. I originally started the piece last year in October but got really busy with exams. So the rerun of the event in EN I decided to finish it.
Overall I am really proud of it since it has been a while since I did such a huge piece. This piece contains a lot of characters including OC and RSA. You can get more info on a previous post.
I think that Rollo and the doom sibling are my favorite part and what I am most proud of. And once again, Malleus is still the hardest character for me to get down and I want to throw him in a lake because of it. But yeah that is all.
Current Note: Hello, void. I am not dead. Anyway, I just want to repost this piece I made last year, since I've been busy preparing stuff. As well as the fact I don't know a good time to post this before TWST's Halloween season starts. I will include the design of the RSA and the Toonville Gang outfit as well. I will note that I do plan to draw more Glorious Masquerade in the future. Which includes a new Twst-OC and a Niege redesign because I do not like the pants. So yeah.
(October 2023) OG Artist note: Man, I finally did an actual reference for the design I've been thinking of since like august. These were originally for two art pieces I was planning on doing: one that focuses on these designs and the other that represent the entire event. However since I am stuck in a circle of hell known as FOREVER EXAM MODE I don't know if I will make a piece with this design. I will try to do that because I like this event. So yeah.
I have at last finished this piece after procrastinating on it. So, for all who don't know, last year I made a poster for Glorious Masquerade that was inspired by the "Hunchback of Notre Dame" movie poster. Now, since Glorious Masquerade and Playful Land are paired events, I decided to do something similar with Playful Land and the original Pinocchio poster. However, I made it harder on myself this time because, unlike the last poster, where I had only 6 characters to actually render, this time I am rendering 15 characters. Why do I enjoy making myself suffer?
I think the hardest part of this piece has to be the arrangement and line art. The characters on the right side of Grim were the hardest to arrange, with Lilia in particular having to be redone multiple times. The line art took a while to do because it's my least favorite part of the drawing. Mainly because I'm not very good at making clean line art. But I think it turned out quite well. The coloring phase was quite fun to do, although I wasn't able to replicate the watercolor look from the original Pinocchio poster. But I am digging the textured look.
I will say this is the cutest I ever drew Grim, like I am getting cuteness aggression seeing it, and I don't know what possessed me when I drew the initial sketch. I will say that Lilia was the hardest to draw, mainly because of his eyes and hair. Regardless, I think I should practice drawing TWST characters before I do another art piece like this.

Artist Note: Okay, here's the thing. I'm not very good at drawing "ship art" that isn't my OC. I don't even think I have ever drawn two people kissing. But when rewatching "Sleeping Beauty" last year, I was possessed to draw yearning Malleus. And when I mean possessed, I mean a voice in my head itched for me to draw. This is not supposed to be actually representative of what happened in book 7. Anyway, here's some more doodles and random stuff, because I've been cursed by Malleus.
Artist Note:
Look, you can't give a bunch of NPCs with names and voices and expect me not to try and give them a design. For the design I mainly base it on the name translation done by mysteryshoptls (ref 1). Here are some notes on why I chose a specific inspiration.
NRC
Claire Fontaine, which translates to "clear fountain," reminds me of the chalice from when the evil queen was making the old person potion.
Lucien Benoit basically translates to "light blessing", and alongside the fact that Lucien is into architecture, it made me think of the Golden Beetle that shows the way to the ruin.
Thales Ferris: Ferris could be related to a ferry, which in turn is associated with ferryman.
RSA
Tim Kambaa is as stated in the translation note, but I decided to lean into Timon as inspiration based on his voice.
Sylvie Constin: Sylvie seems to associate with "spirit of the forest" and Constin is connected to Phill whole deal of training a hero, who would become a constellation.
Vega Allenby is a confusing one, as it implies it could based on Meg, which doesn't make sense considering the dorm leader should be the Meg inspired. So I just did the flower.
Oliver Marchfield & Winter Blesswell are the translation note state. However, some of you may know that I already have twst oc for Fauna and Merryweather named Fiadh Serenity and Joyous Mezzle (Ref 2). Which, I have been working on a redesign for their outfits and whatnot.
Although, since Fiadh is Oliver, that means he has to suffer through whatever Rielle made him go through.

Which Oliver/Fiadh is a sweet summer child (he is a 3rd year, is 186 cm tall, and is at least over 100 years old). Who was raised in the woods and still is adjusting to human culture. So him going through all that makes me feel bad, like he doesn't deserve this. Like this level of suffering is usually reserved for Oswalt (my yuu).
Although if I were to replace any other character from the NPC listed for my own, it would be Vega Allenby with Esme and Sylvie Constin with Aegipan because both are in the Psykeros (meg) dorm.
So yeah, I enjoy this chapter a lot, and I REALLY need to see Azul get his butt kicked.
Man I like how this turn out, even if this is a bit messy. For context, this is inspired by book 8 opening scene of grim woke up to having a dream of being dunked by in a cauldron, aka grim turning to a poison apple. Which if it not foreshadowing, I don't know what is. However, that is a topic for another day, because I have a theory associated with it. SO yeah
