nate could still recall the last time he'd seen her ( @2worlded ). their careers were finally taking off just as they'd dreamt. everything was clicking into place — except them. their time together became less and less as they travelled the world separately. timezones often made contact hard, and once there was contact, he couldn't help but feel awkward. nate felt awkward talking to his girlfriend, who had, since the beginning of the world tour, become someone distant from him. it inevitably ended up in arguments, misunderstandings — and unfortunately, it also came to an end. right in the middle of the tour. when the band finally touched the ground in the united states, nate knew he had to go see her. they were such good friends before their relationship, that couldn't be thrown out the window just like that. they needed to talk. he needed to talk to her. quite desperately.

his hand raised to knock on her door, and for a moment, there is hesitation. did she even want to see him? would she even be open to a conversation about what had gone wrong and whether they could... perhaps consider rekindling? his knuckles finally come in contact with the wooden door and he takes a step back, waiting for the door to open. though, it doesn't — and he's unsure if it's because she knows it could be him or she's just not home. still, he knocks a second time, this time calling out to her.

still no answer. he wondered if she was hesitating just like he had been moments ago. he lets out a small sigh, gaze dropping to the ground as he waits impatiently. only then does it sink in that he had literally driven across the state to go see her. the exhaustion was clear on his features, and it was obvious he had just made it back from the airport given his a little too nice for casual attire. as he waits, and debates on whether to deliver his speech right there and then, it's much clearer to him then that his feelings had never faded. but had hers?
