Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen - Zenne y Frontera (2019) n⁰93
Ma vagyok utoljàra 38 èves. Szar.
Oud Beersel had been at the edge of my radar for a long time but suddenly it was zeroed in after a visit to a tiny brewery in Rancho Cucamonga of all places.
By chance I found Sour Cellar Brewing one balmy night and Brian, the owner, told me he was friends with the owner of the traditional Belgian brewer. I found Brian’s American lambics extraordinary so I wanted to sample the brewery that inspired him for myself. As it was located between Brussels and my kiddo’s abode, it was easy to stop by.
A week before, we’d poked our heads in the more famous 3 Fonteinen nearby. While we had to stand in line to even buy a few take away bottles from 3 Fonteinen on a Saturday, Oud Beersel was empty, except for us, midday through the week. I much preferred our experience in the empty taproom.
I’ve yet to try the bottles I brought back from 3 Fonteinen so it remains to be seen which beer I prefer.
Hoping to revisit Jester King near Austin this year in August. They along with Side Project in St Louis are the premier (IMO) American brewers of spontaneously fermented beer.
