Day 14: Incense
@30daymagicroots
Okay, so this is a day late because of course my internet is just the worst and makes me want to scream. I tried to use things that would be readily available and or could be gotten fairly easily online.

Day 14: Incense
@30daymagicroots
Okay, so this is a day late because of course my internet is just the worst and makes me want to scream. I tried to use things that would be readily available and or could be gotten fairly easily online.
Day 4: Intentions
“Set your intention for this challenge. What do you hope to get out of it? Our intentions are so important when it comes to magic. You must have a clear vision in order to proceed with the action. (Make one or two concrete goals: for example, “I’d like to create a simple daily magical routine for myself” or “I’d like to try three new magical techniques before the end of the month.”)”
For this challenge, I hope to get myself deeper involved with my craft. I also hope to further develop my intuition and abilities.
I’m so excited for it!

30 Day Magical Roots Challenge: Day One
Use your favorite form of divination and ask what you need to focus on this month.
I used my Witches’ Runes. While not the most ancient of runes, they speak clearly and truthfully to me every time. I feel a great bond with them and they were the first divination tool I learned.
I interpret this cast to mean that I need to focus on my future happiness and goals. I may need to put more hard work in now than I want to, but I need to focus on long term happiness. Building relationships, and even romantic ones may be important now, but should take a back seat to my larger life goals. This is going to be a time of change and I need to look to changes my habits and behaviors, as well as my relationship with love. I have the opportunity now do turn things around and I should take it.

Day 3, 4, and 5
Late with these entries for the @30daymagicroots challenge but here they are including today's.
Day 3: Centering/Breath-work
Spend 5 minutes today (and every day this challenge) focusing on your breath. Notice your breath as it enters and leaves your body. Try alternating between breathing in through the left nostril and out through the right. Use your fingers to close each nostril if you need the extra assistance. Try to increase this from 5 minutes to more as you do this every day this month.
I've done this exercise a few times before, during meditation sessions in a server that I'm in and during this one chakra meditation, but I went ahead and did it again today. Physically I feel like I can breathe a lot deeper and I'm less stuffy now, mentally I feel level headed, peaceful, and tranquil, and emotionally I feel content. I think I will be incorporating this breathing technique more often, and will making it a point to meditate for at least 5 minutes every morning.
Day 4: Intentions
Set your intention for this challenge. What do you hope to get out of it? Our intentions are so important when it comes to magic. You must have a clear vision in order to proceed with the action. (Make one or two concrete goals: for example, “I’d like to create a simple daily magical routine for myself” or “I’d like to try three new magical techniques before the end of the month.”)
My intentions for this challenge are to reestablish my beliefs, solidify my path, and figure out which practices work best for me so that I can continue to utilize them in my craft.
Day 5: Energy work
Start out rubbing your hands together, and then once they are warm, hold your hands about six inches apart. Push them together and then pull them apart and feel the energy build between your palms. Practice making the space larger and feeling the energy filling the empty space. Do this every day after your breath-work. See how large you can make the energy form. What shapes does it take? How does it feel? Any colors? Sensations? Smells? Make it your own! After you are done, press your hands to your chest and let the energy sink into your heart chakra.
My fingers felt tingly and I faintly felt my own energy. I felt the resistance as I pushed my hands closer together and I felt the expansion as I pulled them away. This only lasted very briefly though but I will revisit this post and update my progress of this exercise at the end of the month.
Day 3: Centering/breathing work
"Spend five minutes today (and everyday of this challenge) focusing on your breath. Notice your breath as it enters and leaves your body. Try alternating between breathing in through the left nostril and out through the right."
Today for the @/30daymagicroots challenge... well, actually, I missed yesterday — so today’s just going to be 3 rather than 4.
Just letting my future self know.
But today, I spent about three or four minutes trying to do the square breathing method. I tried a bit before getting okay at it at the end, and plan to practice more everyday, along with centering!

DAY... A lot of catch up
@30daymagicroots
I’m not gonna lie. I hit one day where the challenge was so left field to my path that I kind of froze and didn’t do anything until today. I decided if I had that kind of reaction I would just explain why and play catchup. There really shouldn’t be a reason for me to stop just because of one day.
Day 25: Esbats
Truthfully, I don’t put a lot of time into tracking the moon or celebrating the moons... read as ... not at all. Occasionally, I might say hello or something but I really don’t pay a lot of attention to astronomical anything. I also am not really into rituals. I am far more likely to just throw some herbs than do something overly elaborate. Really, it just isn’t my thing.

Day 27: Healing
So as far as taking care of myself, I actually remembered to use sunscreen today. Sounds silly, but I always forget to use it. I also spent time with my mom just reading tarot and having fun. I don’t know if I can say I know any healing in particular, but there was this thing that I use to be able to do, where I could draw pain out of someone. Like I remember, I did it to this one lady once who was having neck pain. She didn’t know what I was doing (she was so completely mundane). She had her eyes closed and I stood behind her. I drew out the pain. After I was done I asked her how her neck felt and she said it felt much better. She also asked what I did because she felt my hands on her neck. Here’s the thing... I never touched her. Not even once. I don’t know if that technically counts as healing but... that’s what I got.
DAY 12: Deities and Poems
@30daymagicroots
I do work with deities, but my primary deity is Loki. I don’t have any particular reason that I work with deities as a whole. I work with Loki because he seemed like a deity that would accept me and that I could learn a lot from.
I am a polytheist. I believe each god is their own individual and I believe in them all. When I say all I mean every one of them from the Christian god (which a whole story that I won’t get into) to Loki to Innana. I also believe in animism. For some reason that is the one that always is just a bit too much for people to wrap their brains around but whatever.
Poem/Prayer to Loki (Go easy on me. I did the math and this is the first poem I’ve written in 10 ish years)
Shifting form, hair aflame Beguiling in mischief's name Stir up trouble Just to entertain Shifting god of well-known fame
Day 24: Holidays
@30daymagicroots
Okay, it is only in the last few years that I actually got into celebrating the holidays outside of saying “Oh... it’s (fill in the holiday)”. That being said, there is one holiday that I always try and do something for... Samhain. I literally live for this holiday. To be fair, I also like to say that every day can be Halloween (I know they aren’t the same exactly, but I grew up with both) if you try hard enough. I love the way the world feels on Samhain and the number of beings that are actively interacting with us.
It is also one of Loki’s holidays so it has the added layer of being my primary deity’s day. I haven’t really been able to do anything for the holiday recently, but it is still my favorite by far.
