your hair and baking soda (...and some other stuff)
i have read alot of people's opinions and techniques about using baking soda to wash hair, either as a complete replacement for shampoo or in addition to regular shampooing. all i gotta say is, people be different. some articles talk about how baking soda damages your hair, others about how amazing it is, and the measurements vary each and every time. putting my novice cap on here, i am going to try the following recipe:
add 1 tablespoon of baking soda to the amount of shampoo i usually use to wash my hair, and wash and rinse as normal (the shampoo part)
mix 1 part apple cider vinegar with 4 parts water, and rinse after a couple mins as normal (the conditioner part?)
here's the thing. this is my first ever diy beauty experiment. besides from using olive oil as an overnight hair mask (really good for dry, damaged, brittle, generally ratty hair that you are so embarrassed about that you tie it up in a bun all the time making the problem worse). i may or may not add some essential oils into the mix, perhaps;
a blend of lavender, bergamot, mandarin, lemon, cedarwood and chamomile for the baking soda mix
a blend of mandarin, grapefruit, lime, petitgrain (like a citrusy orangey oil) and rose for the vinegar mix
so! bearing my total beginnerness in mind, i will try as best i can to document what i use, the containers i store it in, and how it all feels during and after the process. wish me luck, nerds! a bien tot!
