Getting ready
I have wanted to do a no spend month for a long time. It has been my own improper relationship with money that has stopped me thus far. I think this month should be perfect. My no spend will be a bit different. At least in the household category.
I have recently moved. I moved with minimal belongings. So I don’t have a stockpile or a pantry to speak of. All of that remains at the house in the big city. I still have five kiddos with me, so buying toilet paper is definitely still on the list. Instead of cooking from my pantry I will make a list and only shop from the list. I will limit treats to one per week and it must be cooked from scratch. If I have the ingredients at home to make more than we can, but I won’t purchase food just for treats other than once a week. Typing that, lets me know that it behooves me to cook from scratch as there will almost always be left over ingredients.
I’m reading ahead in the book “31 Days of Living Well Spending Zero” so I’ll be ready to go in February. I hope to change my relationship with money. It is something I’ve been praying about. Feeling useful and worthy is tied deeply into how much money I spend and it usually doesn’t end well. I like creating a budget, I just don’t follow it. at. all.
I will stop feeding my mania and trying to stave my depression with buying. I want to deal with my emotions truthfully.
Want to give it a try?
