When are you hoping your son will be born? How long of a maternity leave will you have if you are taking one? What are you looking forward to most about being a mom? What are your favorite memories from your childhood that you want to try and replicate with your son?
Such good questions! I’m beginning to wonder who you are, anon friend. 😉
The “pc” answer is that my little baby can take his time and cook as long as he needs to, but honestly there’s a small part of me that was hoping he would arrive a bit earlier than due date. I don’t even know really why, except that it’s starting to become pretty hard on my body. Even so, I don’t want to rush it, and I hope whenever he does come, that all goes to plan.
I’m quite blessed in that my maternity leave (does anyone else hate that phrase? Idk what we should say instead - parental/family leave? - but I’m starting to hate the word maternity) will be about six months all in all. My current employer has a pretty nice benefit for new parents and I’m definitely grateful for it.
What I’m looking forward to most about being a mom.. wow. Firstly, meeting the little peanut, getting to know him and learn who he is, watch him grow and learn about the world, being the person to support him and love him and teach him. I’m also looking forward to parenting alongside B. We’re a great team and I’m excited to see him as a dad. I’m looking forward to a LOT of squishy baby snuggles, too. Like, a lot of them. I hope he’s a snuggler.
Childhood memories that I’d like to recreate with my son.. let’s see. What pops to mind first is some of the fun stuff.. birthday parties, ice skating, swimming, taking family trips, going apple picking, etc. I hope he likes food and likes to cook/play in the kitchen with me, because I’d love for that to be “our thing” to do together. I wanna make sure we have family traditions.. I grew up with things like Saturday night family visits with my cousins, Sunday dinners with just our family, things like that.
