A/N - One of the best fanfics I’ve ever read was an AU where John Hale saved John Proctor from prison and hid him in his house and then the twist was that Hale was a witch who spoke in riddles. <3 <3 <3 So writer, where ever you are, this one is for you.
Years and leagues away from the horrors of Salem, under the sun and on the grass John Proctor laid out in the grass, eyes closed. His hands were behind his head and his heart was at peace. Proctor was a sinner. A happy one.
He felt the tread by his head more than he heard it and opened one eye. Leaning over him and blocking the direct sunlight was Johnny Hale, expression puzzled, a slight wrinkled between his brows.
“Oh. I thought you might be asleep.”
“Nay. Merely enjoying the moment.”
Hale knelt. “The moment?”
Proctor ginned. “Our moment, Johnny.”
