Marccc Hannukah is in a week U_U I'm doing three different events for Christmas + Hannukah my bank account is sufferinggggggg. What do you even do for hannukah other than light the candles? I'm thinking about maybe watching a relevant show or movie this year.
Sorry I missed this I was. That’s it I just was.
I don’t really do anything for Hanukkah really anymore, I don’t think I celebrate much of anything. Steven lit the candles, read a little I think.
When I did celebrate I was pretty young so it was really always about the food, that was a really important part, having the right food gaging it all ready, making it together. That’s what I remember about Hanukkah.
It doesn’t have to be expensive, we didn’t ever buy a lot of stuff, I mean maybe I got some gifts, but it was really the food and the prep. I think y’know people really want like the perfect experience or moment, and for a holiday actually usually it’s everything around the time that you remember, not the hour of the holiday itself, that’s quick. It’s the mark of passage of the entire year.
The instance of ripping open a gift or lighting a candle which what, you see them light a candle forty-four times, it’s not meaningful every time, it’s not new, it doesn’t fill you with awe just by being done. It’s not what the holiday is for.
You celebrate the year, and the event, the anniversary, the hope and freedom, it’s a place, it’s a memory, not a specific time, and it’s lots of moments. Just make those good moments. Movie’s a good idea.
