Side lay position will forever be my favorite position. #365daysofbreastfeeding #day55
It's been four weeks- it's about time I talk about...
Breastfeeding. (Day 28 to Day 0)
It’s been four weeks since Luca’s arrival, and four weeks of being able to breastfeed a newborn again. So far it has been quite the roller coaster. The main issue is that Luca has a Torticollis. A mild form of it though. We have been taking him to see a chiropractor, and hopefully by the time he’s 2 months old he will healed. The Torticollis has been affecting him breastfeeding on my right breast because he has trouble turning his head to the left. It took me about two weeks before we figured out why it was so painful to breastfeed on my right side. My first week of breastfeeding was awful. Cracked sore nipples and getting a cold on top of everything sucked! I thought I had mastitis at first, but thank the heavens it wasn't that. Since the first week I've learned to deal with the pain. I've been pushing through. With going to the chiropractor for his cranial massage and nursing him laying down, sitting back, or on my side I rarely feel the pain anymore. The different positions has not only helped him to be comfortable, but also helped him feed better due to my over active let down. That's problem number two. Ways I've been dealing with that problem is by pumping or just dripping onto a washcloth. I do this to prevent him from clamping down on my nipples to slow down the let down himself. Also help the gas that he gets caused by it. (Tonight I started using gripe water as well) I'm fighting so hard to breastfeed this time around because I didn't fight hard enough the first time. With the snow ball effect of issues when I attempted breastfeeding I lasted three months. This time around I seek as much support and help I can get to fight and make sure I can breastfeed for as long my child needs me to. If you follow me on instagram you can follow my journey. I tag all my pictures with the tag #365daysofbreastfeeding. Yes, breastfeeding is a challenge, but if you fight long and hard enough you could do it. We all have our struggles, but if you surround yourself with support and positivity you can accomplish anything. XO
