365 Portraits of Strangers Day 333 - "Muhammed memorized the Quran" Say hello to Muhammed (@muhammadmanack). I met him on Kloof Street while waking in town. He's originally from Durban but has been living in Cape Town for the last 18 years. He left school a couple of years ago to do religious studies and in that time he memorized the Muslim Quran. He's back at school now though to finish high school so that he can further his studies. Until he gets to study again though, he is helping in the community to get the kids bases of the religion right. Good to meet you dude! #365PortraitsofStrangers (at Kloof Street)

365 Portraits of Strangers Day 318 - "Kate the food designer & Speedo the Rescue dog" Meet Kate (@kittykatewigley) and her adorable little dog, Speedo. I met Kate this afternoon inside Copy Wizard while running some errands at the Garden Centre. She is an old PE person, just like me, but moved to Cape Town in 1998 to study graphic design. Between then and now, she had her own company, which she sold eventually to join forces with her husband and is now the food designer for one of their restaurants, Maria's on Dunkley Square (@mariasdunkleysq). Her little friend there goes by the name of Speedo because he is a rescue dog that was found inside the Speedo factory. He looked at me protective of his owner when I first met them, but knew I was no harm and was very happy for me to give him a little head scratch. Kate, it was such a pleasure meeting you today, myself and Carlinn (@superficialgirl) will definitely be popping into the restaurant at some time. We are LONG overdue for some Greek cuisine! #365PortraitsofStrangers

365 Portraits of Strangers Day 316 - "Alison's story" Meet Alison. I met her on Kloof Street yesterday as I was walking back from town. Her story, despite the humorous card she was holding, is really sad. She is 53 years old and originally from the Bokaap. She was born a Muslim, but converted to Christianity as has since been rejected by her family. She didn't finish school, has never worked a day in her life and is now forced to live on the streets begging for money and food to survive. I felt terrible that I had nothing me yesterday, other that my word that I would be back to help her out the next time I see her. She wasn't too concerned about the money though because she enjoyed the company more than anything. Everyone always walks past without a second look or they give her a few rands and walk away. Nobody really talks to her, so the few minutes we spent chatting about life meant more to her than anything. She is a sweet soul and has a big heart, so if you see her in the Long Street / Kloof Street area, stop and say hi. #365PortraitsofStrangers (at Kloof Street )

365 Portraits of Strangers Day 315 - "Fani the Stylist and Model" Today I met Fani (@YoungFaniSun) while I was walking in Kloof Street and there was just something super awesome about her that drew me over chat to her, which I later realized was her amazing personality. This fun bundle of awesome is a stylist and model by day and an up all night studying to become a psychologist kind of girl. She moved to Cape Town from Jozi when she was 3 and hasn't ever looked back ;) We had a quick shoot on the side of the road, a good laugh and an awesome chat about her extramural activities when she's not posing in front of a camera, styling another model or studying. Fani, it was such a pleasure meeting you, you really made my day! #365PortraitsofStrangers (at Kloof Street )

365 Portraits of Strangers Day 314 - "Reed the guy with 3 degrees" Say hello to Reed, who I bumped into him while walking to town. Reed is addicted to the books it seems because he has THREE degrees! His addiction to learning got him kicked out of home actually when his mother decided enough was enough and that it was time he used all the knowledge he had gained over the years to find a job. So off he went in search of a job and was lucky enough to land a job with the department of health on his first interview where he has been working for the last 9 years years now in their HR Department! 365 Portraits of Strangers Day 313 - "Captain Clever" Meet Clever! He is the very last person we got to meet on our journey through Botswana, ending in Victoria Falls and we met him on the morning before we left to come back to South Africa. Clever took us on such an epic boat cruise up the Zambezi River to some Hippo Pools and then back down to see the spray from the falls themselves, but not too close of course. The sunrise that morning was spectacular and along our cruise, Clever pointed out and found some massive crocodiles as well as some elephants hiding in the trees on the river bank. After we got back, we had breakfast, gathered our things and then he took us to the pick-up point to get our cab to the airport, not before he found one last herd of elephants that having a drink of water. They flapped their ears and waved their trunks at us as if to say good bye. We will miss the people we met along the way, but they will forever be friends! #365PortraitsofStrangers (at Victoria Falls)

365 Portraits of Strangers Day 312 - "Captain White" Meet White! This awesome guy came to pick myself and Carlinn up after we were done exploring the Victoria Falls and took us to the incredible Victoria Falls River Lodge for our last night on our trip. He's been working with them for some time now and loves the fact that he gets to meet new people almost every day from different parts of the world. He was such a friendly guy and on the short 15 minute cruise, he talked us through all the wildlife we saw. We were supposed to go on a sunset cruise with him that evening, but we were pretty tired and landed up staying behind instead so we never got to see him again. I suppose it's a great excuse to go back again! #365PortraitsofStrangers (at Victoria Falls)

365 Portraits of Strangers Day 311 - "Daneel the Animator and Web Developer" Today I met Daneel (@totorococo) while walking in Kloof Street and he was awesome enough to have a chat to me despite the heat! He is a born and bred Capetonian from Belville, but now lives and works in the city. He has a pretty awesome job as a web developer for a well known UK e-commerce platform called Magento, but he also has an animation background. He told me that prior to working at Magento, he used to mess around and make visuals for live shows with a friend of his and together they were called AweWolves! Together they teamed up with the likes of Fokofpolisiekar, Van Coke Kartel and more to create their visuals! I had ask about his awesome Afro too and he told me it is about to turn 2 years old on the 1st of January 2015. There's one thing for sure about Cape Town, there are some pretty awesome beards and afros around, including this one. Good to meet you dude! #365PortraitsofStrangers (at Kloof Street )
