Namo drabble
It was way past lights out and everyone was soundly asleep. At least, that was what Nayeon thought. She stirred in her sleep, affected by the muffled sobs which she has been trying so hard to ignore.
“It’s not a ghost, don’t scare yourself Nayeon,” she whispered to herself, taking deep breaths as she mentally calmed herself down.
Feeling more at ease, Nayeon had her back faced towards the wall while she hugged the bolster in her arms. She closed her eyes only to shot it back open. Closing her eyes did not help her to drown the noise out but it only amplified it. Nayeon’s breath quickens. Her fear peaked as she stared into the darkness.
At this point, Nayeon has 2 options in mind. The first one is forcing the noise out of her head which was what she had been doing, but this time, try harder. The second one, is getting her roommate to check out the noise for her. She chose the latter. Nayeon reached for the lights and the sobbing stopped but little sniffs could still be heard.
“Momo?” Nayeon got up.
“Hmm?” The fear within Nayeon finally settled down. Through Momo’s humming, she could tell that Momo had been crying. Nayeon had known Momo well enough to tell what the other was feeling that specific moments. They weren’t roommates for nothing.
Nayeon threw her blanket aside and made her way towards Momo’s bed. Her feet shuffled across the floor, filling the void. She then lay herself down beside her roommate, arms sliding to embrace Momo from the back.
“Everything’s gonna be okay,” Nayeon’s soft whisper had provided Momo the comfort she needed. “I’m here, aren’t I?”
Momo turned around, catching the smile Nayeon had on her face before burying her head into Nayeon’s chest.
“Thank you.” Momo gave Nayeon a tight squeeze before lifting her head and planting a quick peck on Nayeon’s lips before hiding her head again. Momo was glad that Nayeon didn’t ask her anything. She wasn’t ready to explain.
Nayeon knew when to not ask questions, because sometimes, silence can be the best comfort and Momo was thankful for that. Momo is thankful for Nayeon. That night, the two shared a bed for one, in each other’s arms.
