#Repost @oldcoltman ・・・ The commander is different from the government model in that the barrel and slide are 3/4” shorter. The recoil spring is also somewhat shorter and so is the barrel bushing and spring cap. The frame is also 3/4” shorter but not in the grip area, only near the front end. All of the other parts are the same as the government model. The trigger is the same fit and so is the magazine. The hammer and grip safety and mainspring housing and magazine release are also interchangeable with the government model. Grips fit the same on a commander and government model. A commander model in 38 super caliber is much harder to find than the government model. This one is a series 70 commander model O4540XSE that came from the factory with a cerakote OD green frame and brushed blue (black oxide) slide. I removed the cerakote and also removed the blue finish from the slide then applied a satin texture to the aluminum frame and polished the steel slide flats while using the same satin texture on the top and bottom of the slide. The factory match grade barrel was polished and engraved with early 20th century Colt 38 super markings. The plastic mainspring housing was removed and replaced with one that is steel and Colt braid engraved. The target sights were removed and polished. Everything was finished in nickel while the parts were loose. Everything except for the barrel. I prefer to polish barrels so that shooting doesn’t cause permanent plating loss. If the barrel gets scratched from use it can be taken out and easily repolished. #commander38 #38supercommander #oldcoltman #gunsdaily1 #gunsdaily #gunstuff https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz7SGrtlq6f/?igshid=1wbk79brf58ff
