With 2013 kicking into gear, I figured it'd be a nice time to share some of the games I'm anticipating the most this year. :D
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - I've become a big Platinum Games fan as of late, due in no small part to their dominance of the action game genre. Combine that with my newfound love of Metal Gear Solid (played through the four main titles last year), and I have myself a recipe for AWESOME. I was always a fan of Raiden (WHOA UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT) back when I played 2, so I'm pretty excited that he's getting his very own game. Again. And really, who doesn't want to pull off shit like this?
Ninja GotYaY.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII - I'm one of those few crazies who enjoyed both XIII and XIII-2, so I'm pumped to see how the trilogy ends. Getting huge Majora's Mask vibes from the time management system so far, which can only be a good thing. The game is set to have tons of customization options, which strokes my erection something fierce. And more delicious Hamauzu goodness is always a reason to be excited. :D
Fire Emblem Awakening - I'm not exactly the biggest fan of Fire Emblem. Played both GBA entries and didn't like the very much. Neither of them stood out to me. Awakening looks pretty amazing, though. The music, art direction, etc. are all screaming "HEY NICK BUY ME BUY ME BUY ME". I certainly hope I won't be disappointed.
Pokémon X & Y - It's Pokémon. It's my favorite goddamn series in at least two kinds of 3D. I mean, goddamn motherfucking yes.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Looking to be the best Animal Crossing yet, packed with loads of content and utilizing the 3DS' features to the fullest. Now, if we can just get a release date for the US, that'd be greeeeeat.
Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate - This shall be my first Monster Hunter game, and it looks like a pretty great place to start. It helps that I have an awesome MH vet as a friend to help me out. The cross-play between the 3DS and Wii U versions oughta be quite fun, too. :D
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity - Very hyped for this. After Time/Darkness/Sky, I'm eager to see where the series goes next. The 3D models look fantastic and being able to make my own dungeons is pretty rad.
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon - I was a big fan of the original, and got COMPLETELY blindsided by the sequel announcement. I have a lot of faith that Next Level Games can do it justice, and every bit of footage I've seen reinforces that. Come oooooon, Luigi!
Now that I look at it, this list is pretty 3DS-centric. Seems like it's gonna have a pretty fantastic year. Considering that the first wave of first-party 3DS software will finally be out by the summer, I can't wait to see what the second wave brings. If Pokémon X and Y are the first hint of that, then HNNNNNG. >:3
