While It Lasts -- Let's have a nice moment.
Premise: Jimmy & Scott, Third Life, fluff and comfort!
In a world where the premise was to wait for everybody to become blood-lusted in order to kill each other, it was really weird to expect other stuff like partnership, or companionship. In a place where the premise is for everything to burn down, to dry out and be left to rot, it was really weird to expect other stuff like calm and soothing nature.
In a world where everything was supposed to receive betrayal, hatred, and murder, Scott got the lottery.
All because he managed to ally someone very special.
Jimmy.
Because Jimmy really struggled to do all of those things correctly.
To start, the place where Jim and Scott resided in was by far the most peaceful, the area was calm and had one of the most lively resident to be sharing that with. Right now, even inside their own base, Scott couldn’t help but feel a sense of content around the area. Not much chaos, except for Scott’s radiant Sun, Jimmy.
Jimmy was nice, caring, goofy, sweet, clumsy. Honestly, who would even expect that from him? In a game with bloodshed, where did that piece of gold struck in to Scott’s life? It was hard to believe.
Scott certainly didn’t believe it, but with the poppy on his hand, he certainly was now.
Speaking of which, Scott heard something from the door of their base, which he had been residing in for now.
“Oh, Scott!” It was Jimmy, who was singing Scott’s name like a sweet lullaby as he bursted in through the door. He was kinda messy, mossy boots, his gloves covered in dirt, the rest was fine. But Scott had no idea what Jimmy had been doing the whole day.
Jimmy had a cheeky smile on his face, almost mischievous, too. Scott knew he could read Jimmy well, the other was trying hard to keep his excitement contained. No idea why keeping it a secret was, but Scott would follow along.
“Hey, Jimmy. Fancy seeing you here.” Scott smiled, he put the poppy away in a nearby desk for now to walk up to his husband. Yes, husband. Even though it technically was only a joke. “Whatchu up to?”
Scott got closer to Jimmy, helping him put it away in a nearby chest the two of them had.
“Oh, nothing, nothing.” Jimmy brushed off, putting his armor gear off while he talked. “I’m just happy, is all.”
“It truly is.”
“Happy? In this economy?” Scott raised an eyebrow, he heard a chuckle coming from Jimmy.
“I know! Insane, right?”
Jimmy snickered. “No fishy business here, mister!”
Once all of Jimmy’s stuff was put away, Scott couldn’t help but glance at how fidgety the man was. Slightly unusual. Jimmy was known for having a lot of energy, but not to the point of acting like that. It certainly wasn’t something he would expect.
Scott, however, as always, played along. It didn’t look like it was harming Jimmy in any way anyway. “Well, if you’re so randomly happy, why don’t you tell me about it?”
“A-ha! I know what you’re trying to do here, I’m not falling for that.” Jimmy was smirking, which was for Scott a dead give-a-way of what might be going through that man’s head.
“I just want to know, that’s all.” Scott shrugged using his shoulders.
Wow, Jimmy was insistent alright.
“Yes, you are.”
However, Scott’s charm was far more powerful.
He pouted, “Such a bummer then, I’ll guess I’ll never know.” Scott put a dramatic stance by resting his hand on his forehead and sighing. “My husband genuinely is cruel to me!”
“No– no! No, I’m not!!” Jimmy yelled back instantly, his confidence immediately fumbled as he looked at Scott paranoid.
“See? He even calls me evil.”
“No, I’m not.”
Scott patted Jimmy’s back, trying to lighten up the teasing. “Think that all you want, Jim.”
“You. Are Evil.” Jimmy glared back at him, however, Jimmy was struggling to keep the frown on his face as he was laughing along with Scott.
Jimmy nudge Scott off playfully as he snorted. “Yeah, yeah. I guess you’re not getting your surprise then.”
Ah, so that’s what it was all about.
“You made a surprise for me?” Scott asked. Knowing Jimmy, that would potentially end up in disaster.
Slowly, Jimmy grinned back at Scott. His cheerful attitude returning. “… Alright! Since you want to see what I’m working on so much.”
“Y–yeah! Well, y’know, not really going to be much of a surprise not that I spoiled it, darn it.” Jimmy grunbled, avoiding eye-contact as he looked visibly embarrassed by his own mistake.
Scott walked up to Jimmy, he picked one of his hair strands that was getting in his view of Jimmy’s face and picked it. “Well, I can’t wait to see it.”
With that, Jimmy went apart, he went towards the desk and picked up Scott’s poppy before offering it to Scott himself.
“You take this. You’re gonna need it.”
“Oh?” Scott smiled in amusement, gently taking the flower from Jimmy’s hands. “Well, if you say so.”
Glancing between the poppy, Jimmy was behind, wearing his own on his head along with the flower crown the two made together. A really nice gift they did for each other. Scott had his own, too, although he didn’t necessarily wear it as often as Jimmy did.
Jimmy replied rather quickly, his voice ecstatic. “Just trust the process, Scott! Can’t afford to ruin the surprise.”
Once he had taken away the poppy from Jimmy’s hands, the other grabbed Scott by the shoulders and turned around. Making him face the door rather than his husband. Scott’s eyes were then covered up by Jimmy, making him only able to see his gloves. Luckily the blond didn’t cover his eyes completely so they didn’t make contact with the dirty gloves.
Why the hell where they dirty anyway?
“Jimmy, what are you doing?” Scott asked blindly.
Scott heard some movement from behind him, no idea what Jimmy was doing, especially when his hands were still covering his eyes. But it was Scott’s guess that Jimmy was shuffling stuff around.
“But we’re inside, I don’t think I would be able to be spoiled either way–”
“Just trust the process!” Jimmy interrupted him.
“Okay! Now, I’ll tell you where to go, so be careful, take slow steps.” Jimmy’s voice felt closer than ever now, perhaps only because Scott was only aiding himself with his hearing.
But he trusted Jimmy, so he slowly took one step, then the other.
“Yes! Yeah, like that, now keep going, and I’ll tell you when we reach the door.” Scott heard Jimmy’s words, which felt reassuring. Scott had no idea what he was doing at all.
With that, Scott kept going, using one hand to slightly guide himself, the poppy in the other. Once he walked enough to feel the frame of what he thought was the main entrance to their base. He stopped.
He nodded in reply and kept going, wandering blindly (literally) around the area. Scott could hear some giggles that escaped Jimmy’s lips every once in a while.
“Okay, what now, Jimmy?”
“Err, right! So you’re gonna have to walk forward with me, think until we reach the flower field.”
Until they reached the flower field, okay, yeah, Scott can do that.
“Stop there!” Jimmy ordered once Scott had walked forward enough. He doesn’t really know where they are.
From what Scott could hear, there wasn’t necessarily anything out of the ordinary in the Flower Valley, however, there seemed to be a new scent around the area. And it wasn’t a flower, more rather metallic.
At a point, Scott felt himself passing through some flowers, he doesn’t know if his memory was failing him or not, but he doesn’t really recall any flowers that had been planted in a V-shape.
“Can I open my eyes now?”
“Uhm! No! You’ll see, you’ll see. Just keep your eyes closed.”
“Nope! I– uhm, actually need you to close them for yourself, I gotta wire some stuff in the back.”
“Wire some stuff? Jimmy, are you doing redstone here?” Scott was rather surprised, whoever thought Jimmy could actually accomplish something like that? Much less do it correctly. Scott was actually going to cry from joy if Jimmy managed to do that.
“Alright.” And with that, Scott rapidly shut his eyes, standing still while he traced the petals of the poppy in the meantime.
He heard Jimmy scatter. His boots resonating slightly on the grass as Jimmy got to work. He placed something made out of… wood? Scott couldn’t really tell, but the way it sounded once it was played down didn’t make it look like anything metallic.
“Okay! You can open your eyes, Scott.”
Jimmy didn’t have to tell him twice before Scott opened them gently.
What was in front of him was a pretty view. Of everything.
Scott was in the middle of a flower circle, or more like, heart, the outline being made out of poppies surrounding him. The heart was huge, being able to fit both Jimmy and Scott in there. Outside the heart, there were lamp posts made out of oak wood, however, they weren’t lit up.
The sunset, though? That was what was making everything put together. With the sun behind Jimmy making him shine like a star. His smile brightening up Scott’s own heart. His happiness and excitement was as gorgeous as the Sun behind him.
Jimmy was Scott’s Sun.
Scott had won the lottery of the stars. Because his was the brightest one.
“Aw, Jimmy…” Scott felt a smile form in his lips, before he could talk more, Jimmy shushed him.
“Look below, and put the poppy on the pressure plate, please.” His voice was so soft, soothing for Scott.
As soon as he was ordered that, Scott looked down, in front of him laid a wooden pressure plate.
He gently let the poppy go, and the wind and gravity took it from there. The flower swung by, little by little, and then it fell into the pressure plate.
Then as sun as the sun set in, and the stars began to look up, Scott’s whole world lit up.
Each lamp lit up little by little. As if welcoming the beginning of the night, and letting the Moon have its entrance.
“Aw, Jimmy! This is so cute.” Scott felt tears in his eyes, though they weren’t particularly negative ones. Scott was happy. Genuinely happy.
This was such a dumb, yet beautiful detail, he never would have thought Jimmy would want to do this. But it explained everything, Jimmy must have been working for this the entire day. Explaining his messy appearance for today.
“Now, don’t be amused yet!” Jimmy started, he looked happy, too. Trembling a little, but perhaps it was only due to him being nervous. “Scott, I have a lot to tell you.”
Scott’s smile dimmed as his eyes widened. Slowly nodding as he saw Jimmy panicking in his own head. “Go on…”
Jimmy nodded back from reassurance. He took a deep breath before continuing. “Look, you’re Scott, you’re this elegant, majestic, smart guy, right? And I am… not. But! It doesn’t bring me down. Because I’ve got you to support me. And… well.” He fidgeted with his gloves.
“So for while it all lasts. While we can still be happy. May I offer you a dance?” Jimmy finally finished.
“I wanted to return that! To return all the good things you’ve done for me. But I didn’t know how to. So I just… did this.” Jimmy mindlessly pointed at the flowers. “But that’s not what I’m here for.”
Scott saw Jimmy take off his gloves and threw them recklessly to the ground. And Jimmy offered his hand to Scott.
The two locked eyes, Scott didn’t realize how Jimmy’s brown eyes could be so lively. So welcoming and charming.
He smiled, and Scott took Jimmy’s hand.
“My pleasure, Jimothy.”
There was a pause for a while before the two began to laugh. This whole moment was cheesy in itself, so might as well have fun.
After it died down, Jimmy brought Scott closer to him, and spun Scott around. Once that stopped, Scott put his hand on Jimmy’s shoulder and slowly brought him to waltz, focusing on a three-step footwork progression.
They circled around the heart, each of the lamps shining bright enough, making Jimmy and Scott the spotlight of tonight. Nothing else was lit up, only them, only this moment.
The two drifted apart, but didn’t let go of their hand before getting close again. Jimmy spun Scott, and then Scott twirled with elegance before coming back to Jimmy.
They ran out of air, once things calmed down the two giggled.
Scott felt his smile grow the longer they danced. Whoever thought being together could have felt so freeing? Whoever thought Jimmy was really the Scott’s Sun? Whoever thought Scott would happily be the stars that followed him?
The two to end the tale, finished with a foxtrot, with Scott being held by Jimmy as he raised his legs as much as he could.
Scott wouldn’t trade this place for the world.
All because he managed to ally someone very special.
In a world where the premise was to wait for everybody to become blood-lusted in order to kill each other, it was really weird to expect other stuff like partnership, or companionship.
