100COPIES & Rinse FM present Cairo Calling
December has gifted us an early Christmas present in the form of Cairo Calling, a vital collaboration between Cairo label 100COPIES and London’s Rinse FM, the former pirate radio station that now enjoys a global reputation.
The genesis of the ‘Cairo Calling’ project was a 2014 cultural exchange that saw UK artists such as Kode9, Faze Miyake and Mumdance collaborating with Egyptian artists Sadat, Figo and Diesel. To continue bringing Mahragan music and Cairo street culture to a wider audience, this month saw Rinse and 100COPIES facilitating talks, screenings, clubs and conversations, culminating in an incredible compilation from which today’s #TrackoftheDay is taken.
