Week 1 of the Habit Challenge = Complete!
3 Weeks to Make it a Habit: Week 1 (day 7)
Sometimes we make plans only to have life get in the way. Example: I made a weekend plan on Friday that was as follows: F - run when I got home from work and go to bed early. Sa - Up at 5 am to drive friends to the airport, run after dropping them off, and get some chores done early so I could go to a "Whiskey and Pie" party.
Actual: F - Get a call at 5 pm from the busy 1L boyfriend who actually has time to grab dinner (gasp!), get home around 9 pm, watch TV, and go to bed. Sa - Up at 5 am to drive friends to the airport, get convinced by other roommate when I get home that going to bed again would be the better idea, wake up at 11:13 and realize most of the morning is gone, rush to store to buy paint for the living room, and spend the ENTIRE day (until 8:30 pm) painting. Miss the "Whiskey and Pie" party, but go see Judah Friedlander do standup randomly in Davis Square at 10:30 pm. Yes, that last part really happened. I even have a photograph to prove it!
Disappointed in myself that there was no running in there either Friday or Saturday. I did manage to finally finish the living room project, with the exception of some light switch and outlet covers, and it looks AMAZING :) The apartment is really coming together, to the point that I can see myself staying for a while because it's so comfortable, not just because it's super cheap for the Boston area. (Meg's new couches are a major part of my newfound love of our place.)
I can count today as completing week 1 of my habit challenge though, because I forced myself out the door this afternoon and Sunday still counts as this week. RunKeeper stopped ... keeping ... at 0.21 miles in, my legs felt like heavy jelly, I had to take a few 30 second walk breaks, and my abs burned when I got home from huffing and puffing. I did not feel good about this run like I felt about the other two this week. However, it's very true: not every run will be a good one, and not every run will be faster than the last. Sometimes just the fact that you made yourself get up and out there is the accomplishment. So habit challenge, bring on Week 2. I'm ready.
