4.29.21. Elizabeth City, NC

Andrew Brown Jr was murdered by local police in Elizabeth City, NC last Wednesday, April 21, 2021. Police fired semi-automatic rifles and glock pistols into the back of his head as he attempted to back out of his driveway.

The warrant officers were serving was to search for crack, whose criminalization and introduction is part of the War on Drugs, created to enable the militarization of police into Black and brown neighborhoods, bring racial terror to majority POC neighborhoods, attack Black activists, and develop mass incarceration for slave labor and racial and labor control.

In a town of 17,000 people, police are arresting protestors to break up any demonstrations like they do in every major city. 10 officers have already left the force in some way in reaction to this. A judge ruled more video footage (than the 20 second footage from one camera) cannot be released to the public, nor can the family see the faces of the people who murdered Andrew Brown. The whole system protects killer cops, lynchings are a legal fixture of every level of U.S. government. This system cannot be reformed.

i cooked a really tasty miso fish today and went to the Getty museum.

My friend's cat has anxiety and because cats naturally project energy, that made ME anxious for most of the week.

I've been thinking about the ways in which I have so much of the traditional "love" fulfilled by my adorable friends who care and feel free to ask for things when they need help and are totally ready for that reciprocation when it arrives. it puts so much pressure off trying to find a partner that fulfills me.

i got a really good smelly candle and a photography book and I've been going to the movies when i feel like it. I'm furiously committed to happiness.
