Mahou Girl Ore episode 10!
Very plot heavy compared to many prior episodes though. Still, good comedy throughout, so it’s nothing to complain about. And while it’s still a parody of magical girl anime, it makes sense for it to pick up a climactic arc towards the end like some other magical girl shows.
Turns out Hyoe’s been somewhat of a red herring the entire time, and the manager is actually the bastard behind all of the demon attacks. This was a twist I didn’t expect, and I’m not upset with it at all. I wonder what his motive will be revealed to be. If I had to guess, it’s probably been his plan the entire time to have Saki and Sayuki become mahou shoujo idols the entire time due to his love for mahou shoujo idols, and having demons attack Mohiro was the best way to do it. However, that seems too obvious, and this show has a thing for subverting expectations, so perhaps it will be something else. Who knows?
However, that’s not to say Hyoe has been unimportant this entire time and all the mystery around his character is for nought. For Hyoe is actually the next King of the Fairies, Kokoro-chan’s king. That was a bit of a shock. I kinda wonder how fairies work, though. Kokoro-chan and presumably others are all part of some big official organisation converting girls to magical girls, but it’s all a legislative process where the magical girl is made aware of what’s going on. Sounds like a pretty solid organisation, overall. We also know of more shady fairies such as Kokoro-chan’s brother, offering contracts his brother describes as nearing on illegal. Is Kokoro-chan’s organisation directly ruled by a king? Or is it, alongside the shady bootlegs, just part of a kingdom that happens to have a king? Who knows? But I’m definitely looking too deep into it.
Good episode though. Next episode is a climactic battle. Coolio.
