Eliza and Samuel never had a nice mundane relationship to begin with; their house was usually filled with the sound of screams, slamming doors, and broken promises. But they thought love conquered all, they were young and infatuated which meant the world would unravel at their feet. Except, it was unkind and battered them more than enough times that at some point they considered themselves survivors instead of fighters.
Eris was born with the same survival blood that ran through both of her parents. She learned at a young age that in order to keep living one needed to fight tooth and nail, dreaming and hoping were for the weak- no one successful was ever clean and innocent.
But apart from these discoveries, there was something brewing inside of Eris, a deep clawing hunger that made her spend every night at the library, reading book after book looking for the answers to questions she didn’t dare ask.
Her mother spent the entire day working for a company that was not only paying her minimum wage but also leaving a lasting disease on her body that only grew with every passing year. Her father was having a hard time dealing with the crushing weight of responsibilities and more often than not, leaned heavily on alcohol, which later turned into drugs.
Eris’ teenage years were a mixture of pain and rebellion. Her mother was diagnosed with leukemia due to the chemical waste the company where she worked at leaked daily and her father became a full time addict after his wife’s death, leaving the young female to fend for herself in terms of food, house, and other necessities.
But the teenager was smart; all those nights spent reading endlessly paid off. Through the years she acquired many skills on survival, but her most astonishing talent was her knack for technology. She could hack into anything- just as long as you paid the fee. Establishing a small business for the criminals and the desperate brought paid checks and a certain freedom that came from moving up in the economic ladder.
She graduated high school simply because she wanted to, there wasn’t anything new or surprising that the teachers were lecturing. Then she started to expand her business and made it mobile, because her paranoia didn’t let her stay in one place for too long. Leaving her addict father wasn’t much of a heartache, in her mind he was as good as dead as her mother.
Eris isn’t caring or warm, she’s cynical with a knife shaped tongue ready to slash anyone that stares badly in her way.
She has an unhealthy obsession with hacking into people who interest her and always claims ‘big brother’ is out to get her.
But underneath it all, is a dark thirst to corrupt anything good, to start a revolution and flip society’s not so perfect world upside down and burn it for good measure.
Vegas, with its flashing lights and bright colors, interested her enough to choose it as her next destination. combat boots slamming into concrete, she hoped the city was ready for someone like her.
