murmured question, spoken low enough so only she could hear him. she smiles politely at their guests, a new neighbourhood and new neighbours, here for their house-warming. welcome to the suburbs, they scream – she’s used to the city, to apartments and traffic and the sounds of sixteen a going at it like he’s popping viagraevery hour. she’s used to manhattan. this is … the opposite.
his arm winds around her waist, a slight pull closer to his side and she turns her head immediately, eyes drawn first to his lips and then up, brown eyes meeting blue. she can feel them watching, the people they’re supposed to befriend, the people theyneed to like them – no, love them … ‘ i have to do all the work, el ? ‘ she whispers softly, a touch of a smile to her lips that she’s sure looks smitten and if it’s easy to fabricate, she tells herself otherwise.
her right hand lifts, the left slipping in to his pocket like it belongsthere ( the ring most definitely doesn’t, but it fit like it was made for her ) – her fingertips brush his jaw, two coaxing him to look down at her as it slips down his neck. her head tilts back, lips just hovering over his own and she smiles, before her lipspress in to his. they’ve never kissed before. not even undercover, like they are now. featherlight pecks on each other’s neck or a close embrace. this is … different. kissing elliot is – amazing. it’s exactly what she always thought it would be like and she shouldn’t enjoy it as much as she is, but a moan slips from deep in her chest, a sigh in her mouth.
in the background, she can hear their new “friends” laughter, their cat-calls and comments … they’re good together, theylook good together and maybe they can see what they both try so hard to ignore. her teeth lightly nip at elliot’s lower lip as she pulls away, out of breath. eyes open, staring in to his own before she steps away from his side, hand brushing his lower back as she leaves his side at the call of her name. what was that ?
his eyes followed after her as she walked away, trying to keep his composure around their new neighbours. what the hell was that ? more than he was expecting that was for sure. when he’d asked her to kiss him he thought she’d probably do so half-heartedly to keep up appearances but that was … wow. he’d felt her moan into the kiss and had almost let out one of his own at the sound, his hand tightening around her waist.
elliot was glad for the few cat - calls their display had received or he might’ve forgotten they had company at all. they’d never kissed undercover before and in the back of his mind there was a voice telling him this was why. that it was a dangerous game — a slippery slope. but there was no way they were going to be able to get through this with nothing but a few pecks on the cheek, not if they wanted to be convincing. he’d just have to find a way to get used to it. to think about anything other than how much he wanted to kiss her again.
smiling as one of the other guys came over and clasped a hand over his shoulder, laughing at his comment about a honeymoon phase. ‘ actually, liv and i have been married for goin’ on ten years now. ’ he replied, incorporating as many real details as possible as they’d been trained to when going undercover. they’d been partners for almost a decade — and he’d admit there were times there when he felt more married to her than his now ex wife. ‘ we just uh … ‘ meeting her eyes from across the room, he gave her a genuine smile as he wondered the best way to describe it. ‘ well, passion has never been an issue for us ‘ he chuckled, receiving a knowing laugh from the man at his side. a man that would soon be in jail if all this went according to plan.
