Rough drafting for a comic is so fun bc it’s basically a deconstructed script but even easier. And like I get to work thru my own past traumas in a snappy fun way 

”Mandy is frustrated that Jaz interrupted her, and instead of saying what he needs to say, he asks her what’s wrong. He sees the glimmer of frustrated tears in her eyes as she tells him that she’s been in love with Stella for years, and was just about to tell her-- and now he’s ruined the whole thing!

Jaz is stone-still. Then he repeats what she said. Then he laughs aloud and denies it. After all, she is Miss “Being in Love is for Idiots,” so what’s the big deal with this stupid prank? What’s really up?

And so she gets heated because she’s trying to be serious with him, and he’s not being supportive! But he cuts her off to say that Yeah, of course, because how do you think he feels knowing that the whole time she was making fun of him for being a hopeless romantic and a lovesick idiot, she was harboring some sort of ultra-secret crush since before they’d even met each other?! And that’s not all--the whole thing he’d wanted to talk about is that she’s NEVER there for him, not after his breakup, not when he showed an interest in botany, not for his whatever-it-is with Fielding, not when his whole entire tooth got knocked out--

But she had to be there for Stella that week!

But HE’S her best friend, not Stella! Stella is, quote, just some crush!

Stella is NOT just some crush! She’s been in love with her for years! And besides, why wait till now to say he’s got a problem?

Because Mandy never asked! How was he supposed to get a word in edgewise when he’s always listening to her problems, giving her advice, and doing what she wants to do, and when he isn’t doing that he’s getting NEGGED by her! But God forbid he has a life outside of Mandy--and that’s why he had to be secret best friends with Tanisha this whole time!

How Dare You! She is furious. I’m trying to open up my heart to you, and you’re using this opportunity to guilt me into feeling sorry for you? Jasper, if you had such a big fucking issue this whole time you could’ve said anything you fucking wanted, whenever! It isn’t my fault you’re, like, this beta-coward-closet-nerd, but from you coming out in our sophomore year, to your dog dying, to the time the coach tried to kick you off the football team, I’VE been the one standing up for you! I’ve been the one supporting you this whole time, not your fucking boyfriend, not Fielding, not Fucking Tanisha! I just need you to be here for me!

Yeah, right! This friendship isn’t transactional, Amanda, and if you’re going to ignore something this important for a goddamn relationship crisis, I don’t have to drop everything to cater to you. You know what, fuck this. I’m leaving. Hope Stella is fucking worth it.

Jasper! Stop being fucking melodramatic!
