Peter Setsuo Masuoka was born in Sonoma County, raised in Sebastopol, California, and graduated from Analy High School. He had begun his studies at Santa Rosa Junior College when he and his family were forced to leave the farm they owned and were relocated and incarcerated in Amache, Colorado. His two older brothers had registered for the Army in 1940 while still in Sebastopol. His younger brother also registered. Peter was enlisted from camp and served in WWII with the most decorated 442 Regimental Combat Team. He was killed in action in France in 1944 His parents were notified of his death when they were still incarcerated. After the war, his parents returned to Sebastopol and are buried in Sebastopol Memorial Lawn. I tried to find his grave but he is interred in the armed services cemetery in San Bruno. His sister, Margaret Murakami received an honorary degree for Peter in 2011 from SRJC. #japaneseamericanwarheroes #japaneseamericanworldwarII #petermasuoka #442ndinfantry #442RTC #goforbroke #sebastopolcaliforniaveterenshall #japaneseamericanveterans #442ndregimentalcombatteam #santarosajuniorcollege #analyhighschool #margarettemurakami #silverstar #japaneseamericanskilledinaction #jacl #socojacloralhistory #euroamericanvolunteer (at Sebastopol, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAo3_FmgGrb/?igshid=yvk9pub5baqr
