Cérémonie des César 2020 | Portrait de la Jeune Fille en Feu
The 45th César Awards ceremony, presented by the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma | Céline Sciamma, Adèle Haenel, & Noémie Merlant
Heartbreaking. A strong political statement that the awards are not ready to move forward. The Minister of Culture was there, who vouched for more protection of underage actors and actresses on film sets. Absolutely heartbreaking. Cesars, I have a fucking message for you. You choose to break a child you raised in the cinema industry, who showed up tonight as a sign of truce because they care so passionately about the future of it and about fixing it. Outrageous. For you to feel like you needed to make this public stance after being called out instead of reflecting on the ONE resounding issue concerning the lives of women. But fuck that right, because you needed to make a petulant statement. I wish everyone walked out because you just pissed off half of the world’s population.
