Customizing your guitar is fun they said. DIY is cool they said. 😂 0/10 do not recommend. Changing these pickups took more hours than I would like to admit. The pot cavity in the back of explorers is small as shit. Really hard not to burn wires or the guitar. I ended up removing all the wires for the toggle switch because I thought they were from the bridge pickup, so then I ended up with a two fer one, because I then had to learn about wiring the three way switch back up. 20 YouTube videos, some burnt fingers and melted wires later and now I sort of understand three way guitar switches, basic soldering tricks, and potentiometers. Bonus: I figured out why it sounded like a ground wire was loose, surprise, it’s because a ground wire came loose. Hooray it’s done, maybe the next time will be easier? It was actually sort of fun.
