Just a little bit of 4mula 1 appreciation.
A couple years ago, my cousin asked if I knew about the R&B group 4mula 1. She showed me the photo in the beginning of posted video of one of the members and the stylist Anthony. She snapped that photo before visiting a church with them in 2004. I had no idea (or so I thought) who 4mula 1 was. She sent me their video and I couldn't stop replaying it. I immediately recognized Alfred Jackson as he was the choir director in Issa Rae's The Choir series. The video, choreography, song, styling, and everything was on point so I needed more. I watched their EPK and listened to their music available on YouTube.
Sometime last year, as In The Mix played in the background, imagine how I felt to hear them in the movie not once but twice. I said to myself, I knew them all along! This was one of the first movies I saw at the theaters without a parent. Shoutout to Kiara T.
So much love for 4mula 1. They were certainly gifted and a great representation of the times. Real talent and passion.
