Monday 4th September- Chalk

Today marks the first day on the Foundation course. We were given a sheet of black sugar paper and a sheet of black card each, as well as two images to work from. I never choose to work with chalk so I used my sheet of black sugar paper to better understand the material and how I can use it. I wanted my piece to heavily focus on the highlights within the image. I used a rag to wipe away any imperfections, rather than use a rubber, and to blend the black and white chalk together to create a more cloudy white. I wanted my highlighted areas to blend well with the rest of the work so I used a scribbling effect- the more condensed the mark are, the more intense the highlight.
