*I don't speak Japanese fluently, so the word 解放 may be a wrong interpretation of the meaning "to free"
It's actually a scene from my fic No time to cry
Here's the scene:
A feeling of disgust filled Donnie’s entire body, twisting his stomach painfully. The emotions were so overwhelming he couldn’t keep himself from screaming in pain. The physical pain was nothing – it’s just a burn, but the emotional pain, from knowing that you can’t help your brother, you can’t even fight him in such a condition hurt Donnie even more.
Raph’s assimilation was slow, so slow Donnie failed to notice it.
Starting from the moment when Raphael found strange satisfaction in consuming wintergreen, ending with his anger management issues. Raph’s anger was infamous in the resistance, because of how he destroyed the enemy in the heat of the moment, so people didn’t question his irritability suddenly growing. They found it normal.
They didn’t notice.
He just woke up one day from a concussion and chugged down an entire bottle of wintergreen oil. Everyone freaked out, because, supposedly, Raph would die from poisoning, considering the dosage, but he didn’t. All he did was puke several times and pass out.
They brushed it off as mutant immunity.
The didn’t notice.
Right after Raph, Mikey went down: uncontrollable drooling, lack of appetite and a sudden increase in physical strength.
This time someone noticed.
Baron Draxum was flattered with such an improvement in his student’s training, but suspicion grew in him, just because the man did not believe in miracles. Without informing anyone, he proceeded to study Michelangelo’s behavior and concluded that the latter was in the process of an assimilation. How and why it all happened were the main questions of his interest, which he addressed to Donatello.
-Wha- Assimilated?
-Yes, or at least in the process of it.
-When did it start?
-That is what I hoped to know from you, Donatello, - Draxum eyed the softshell in suspicion, - Did you not even notice your brother’s unusual behavior?
-Now that you mention it, Raph is acting weird...
-What? Red one too?
-There’s someone else other than Raph?
-Yes. I was speaking of Michelangelo.
An awkward silence comfortably settled in the room, unfortunate for the people in it. So, they hurried away in search of the solution.
They caught the 2 siblings, not without effort, and chained them up together on the ground. Draxum was testing out all the mystic rituals he was thinking of, however, success was never seen. The goat man assumed it was because his mystic energy was not enough. It is nearly impossible to get power enhancing potions in the current situation, neither can he afford to lose time waiting for his energy to regenerate. The only option left was to get external help. All of this would be easy, if his student was around, but as you see, he is in the situation. Leonardo could help.
-Where is the gay one?
-Leo? He’s on a supply run.
Unfortunate. That leaves even less options.
-Donatello.
-Huh- Did you just call me by my name?
-Yes. Where is that human girl?
-What human girl...?
-The one with your ancestor’s spirit in her. A..Ap...She has romance with that foot warrior and slime yokai.
-Oh, - Donnie took a pause, trying to contain his laughter, - You mean April.
-Yes! Her! Call her up.
-Uhm, I’m afraid she’s away too.
-Shit.
-Did you just swear? – Draxum took some time to please Donnie’s curiosity about his swearing and then even more time to explain what they must do in order to free the turtles of their curse. It took about an hour for Donnie to learn how to not make his ninpo into almost material objects and some more time to figure out the ritual. In the process Donnie suddenly remembered that one time, when Raphael and Mikey got stuck on a Kraang infested base.
2 months ago, Raph and Mikey went out on a mission, where they had to check out the territory ahead, so the resistance can evacuate in case of a sudden attack. That mission took them weirdly long and they came back awfully injured, especially Raph. He lost his titanic prosthetic(which Don made a replacement for immediately), and his shell was damaged a lot, to the point that he couldn’t walk without Mikey supporting him. Mikey wasn’t in the best condition either, covered in bruises and cuts. Both passed out as soon as they reached the entrance to the base and proceeded to sleep for the next week. Even rumors occurred about them being goners. Fortunately, the rumors weren’t true. At least, not entirely.
To Donnie it seemed like right now, if the ritual fails, they would really be goners.
He couldn’t let it happen.
They tried once, twice, thrice – no success.
On the fourth try though, something happened.
Donnie felt as if blood was draining from his veins, with how fast his ninpo was leaving his body. In response, Raphael and Michelangelo started struggling with what seemed to be pain, groaning and growling with discomfort. Their eyes were wide open, those pink orbs running all around the room, looking for the 'abuser'. Donnie’s eyes met with Mikey’s, before all the lights went off and loud snapping sounds made their way to the softshell’s ears.
On average, humans take about 10 minutes to adapt to sudden darkness, if we consider that a mutant turtle that was made for the sake of destruction of human race, their eyesight surely would be at least twice as good as humans’, hence why the time for them to get used to darkness would be about 5 minutes. Well, here is a funny thing: Donnie counted down 8 times he almost died from his own younger brother’s hands, before his eyes adapted to the sudden change. And we shouldn’t forget that each time Mikey’s hits were becoming stronger and more precise. That means the chances of Donnie dying in the next 5 minutes were higher than before. His head was buzzing with a headache from the rise of his blood pressure and adrenaline. He was dodging everything purely thanks to his instincts.
Another hit cut the air right near Donatello’s face, making him jump away. The room suddenly lit up with fire, the source being Michelangelo’s hands.
Hair floating in the air, eyes shining with an intimidating predatory glow, that wasn’t Mikey standing before Donnie anymore. It was the Kraang itself, controlling his brother’s mind. Donnie noticed how Mikey’s hair started growing in length and wrapping around the box turtle’s neck like snakes, cutting off air to the victim’s brain. Watching his younger brother hover menacingly, while his limbs were trembling with pain was the most terrifying sight for Donnie. He swore he could hear Mike’s faint whimpering, which squeezed his heart to a point where breathing was painful.
- “We are coming for your head”, - a distorted deep voice spoke instead of Mikey, - “and there is nothing capable of stopping the Kraang”.
Donnie was trembling too, tears gathering in the corners of his eyes, his tattooed eyebrows furrowed close. His breathing hitched as he felt the walls tremble too.
‘Oh no.’
Then the said walls burst open, debris flying everywhere. This was an attack that even the fastest warrior of the resistance wouldn’t be able to dodge, not to mention Donnie. He hit his head hard on the ground and the last thing he saw before passing out was Raphael’s confused face.
