Alys Tomlinson - Scanning 4″ x 5″ Negatives
Alys has been photographing visitors to this pilgrimage site shooting on a large-format camera. Each year 6 million pilgrims seek physical and spiritual healing at Lourdes, a small village in the foothills of the Pyrenees, where a young peasant girl once witnessed apparitions of the Virgin Mary. Alys came to us to scan her 5” x 4” negatives and we were delighted to have been given the opportunity to work on such beautifully crafted images. This photo of Markus, an Austrian pilgrim, has been shortlisted for the Taylor Wessing Exhibition now on display at the National Portrait Gallery, London. The detail the negative captures is second to none and we were delighted to hear that her entry to the competition had made the exhibition.
