My best friend sends me a text message at just after 8 pm

“I miss you”

and I feel guilty that the first thought to cross my mind is that she must be drinking.

I tell her that I miss her, too and watch the hours pass without any kind of reply.

I have always measured the distance between us in miles but it has only been in the last 2 years that this has truly been necessary.

Soon, I will have to count the distance in days. I’m still waiting for that realization to wake me up in the middle of the night, a storm blowing through  and leaving me in a wake of destruction I must some how call home.

She taught me, at a young age, that it is normal to love someone  more than they will ever love you.

That for 3 months before the summer your world almost comes to an end, they will almost get drunk enough to tell you otherwise.

That the sleepovers will always turn into something more before they have to end.

Had the IB English SL paper 2 today and I needed so much more time. I literally wrote the last three paragraphs in twenty minutes and they probably suck. But well. We’ll see. At least that’s over now. Going to continue studying tomorrow for the ‘normal’ exams to graduate.
