I love Dorohedoro so much. It is my favorite piece of media. Because it perfectly captures how it felt in 2020 when I first started to figure out that I have DID, and if you're not familiar with how rocky that initial phase can be, All of the trauma started unintelligibly rushing back which ultimately culminated in dissociating and hallucinating all the time. Back then I really resonated my experience with these kinds of insane memes. and then when I found Dorohedoro, it was like the ideal and much more artistically compelling version of these.

I love the dramatic expressions and stressed reactions, the running away and denial/dissocation/confusion. And the headaches, a classic DID trope, and literally does happen irl btw. Minus the exploding into sludge but that at least captures how intense and confusing the emotional/mental state feels.

I love the unstable borders on the panels, the smokey/wispy way memories are drawn...

The picture below is one of my top favorites, possibly #1.

The broken format and symbolism of the door opening, as well as how dissociation/amnesic barriers are portrayed in how Aikawa (the one who holds this memory the dialogue is from) emerges from Kaiman (someone who does not remember it) and the dialogue from the memory is barely audible. It's just so artistically peak and also so realistic to how it feels to have an episode/flashback.

This sequence would be #2. An example of a headspace conversation, an attempt to relay memories, leading to another traumatic flashback.

And the tearjerking and friendships in Dorohedoro shining in moments like this:

Being too scared to get your friends hurt that you'd rather die. I like the back and forth of hopelessness and hope in both Aikawa, and Nikaido when she overcomes her trauma, and when she defeats Jelly in her nightmare. I love them both and relate to them so much
