@52assistants, continued from here:
❝ you've got it. ❞ not a second's hesitation — if there's anyone a fellow boozer can trust to keep his drink safe, it's husk. he takes the hip flask handed his way, in the hand not currently occupied with a drink of his own. ❝ you need to go beat somebody's ass, or what? ❞ he's a better man now than he used to be, but that doesn't mean he's reformed enough to be above things like petty bar fights. if somebody's ass needs beating, then that's the way it needs to be. out of idle curiosity, he gives the opening of the flask a sniff — & wrinkles his nose, out of surprise rather than displeasure. ❝ whuff— what the fuck is in there? ❞
You know? This bar in hell HAD been pretty decent. Keyword, had. For like the first hour. Up until the point that there were two dipshits across the bar giving the both of them funny looks, both, by the way with the looks of it, upper class. Snobby. Over in the VIP section behind the metaphorical red tape, treating it like an actual shield when it was really just velvet red ropes with brass stands.
And maybe, MAYBE the 70 year old human amid a plethora of demons wouldn't have given much of a fuck if he hadn't overheard these idiots mumblings of an ugly grandpa and 'that one washed up Overlord', the 'has been', according to them. Maybe he wouldn't have given two fucks if it wasn't for the fact that he really fucked with this gambling demon who he's hit up on the weekends at casinos while they were both absolutely sloshed.
He stops mid walk before he gets even halfway to the other side of the bar at the question Husk raises.
"Shit that will melt your stomach if you're not careful. You ever drank battery acid?"
"More than welcome to take a sip. You want anything off these rich fucks once I'm done with them, or nah?"
