rewatched colonnello’s arco trial for reasons, and it’s so funny how reborn is his number one fan, entirely much more than lal who’s also right there and who’s literally the one being in love with him. he’s just lounging on his sunbed, arms crossed behind his head, legs crossed at the knees, a drink at the ready next to him, enjoying the sight and the show and smiling proudly whenever colonnello beats tsuna’s and gokudera’s ass, and being all like “what, you think this is my husband’s best? bitch please, he hasn’t even started yet. now let me tell you just why and how he’s the best” to yams and ryohei. like, he’s so obvious??

also that bit about how he was there to count just how many hitmen colonnello beat as he brought down an entire italian mafia family... do you think reborn just shows up in colonnello’s daily life with his binoculars, a drink, a camera and a sunbed at the ready, going all like “all right, time for my one-sided date. don’t mind me, i’m just here to admire and congratulate myself on just how immaculate my tastes are, you won’t even notice me”? please say yes.

Several months late bc i didnt read khr until last week, but that bit about reborn/colonello having disparate backstories? Both are correct if you consider Reborn really gave up on his previous name/life- he was born when he became an arcoballeno, and colonello was there, so childhood friends! meanwhile to colonello he's "that weirdo who went on missions with lal before everything went to shit", because he never let go of who he was before

oh nonny, you have no idea how much i love this take. wrote a whole fic about it actually. and my friend @chierry actually came up with it too around the time i made that post, and drew a hilarious doodle about it which still cracks me up to this day lmao.

but yes, this is such a reborn thing to do, and i wholeheartedly agree they might canonically not be childhood friends at all. i mean, they'll always be in my heart because i hold that part of their dynamic close to my heart and i'll always keep writing them in that context, but this is still a dynamic i like to think about and occasionally write about, for the sheer comedic potential of it if nothing else lol.

i mean, when do you think reborn even started introducing colonnello as his "childhood friend"? from the very beginning? and then he presumably just kept doing it for decades? until they actually became besties and knew each other so well they might as well have been childhood friends?
