A lot of people dislike the main characters of their favorite anime or tv shows in media and have a side characters that they like as favorites. But, I feel that oddly Tsuna is really loved as an MC he is a lot of people favorite even though, he is ordinary lol 😆. I wonder why that is you don't expect his type of character to be pretty popular in Fandom spaces.
Hi nonny, thank you for the ask!
Right, i'm aware it's not uncommon, but it's just really wild to me haha. Like, i get disliking the main character or being indifferent to them, and having another one as a favorite, but to hate them altogether?? Well, i guess i've just been lucky i have yet to come across one that'd warrant it from me too lol.
I totally get what you're saying! But at the same, i think him being ordinary is what makes people love him so much! I know that's one of the main reasons i really love him a lot myself. Something about how it's so easy to relate to him and feel for him and root for him, because the things he wants and holds onto and fights for are very... Relatable? And still very meaningful despite how simple (and easy to get) they may appear to be.
I'm not sure if it's really that uncommon tho? Then again, the only other main character i can think of that's like tsuna is ichigo from bleach, so for sure tsuna might just be the exception to the rule. But yes, ichigo is fairly loved too as far as i'm aware. (Oh, i'd say tanjiro from demon slayer is also another character like tsuna, but i'm not in the fandom so i couldn't tell you how well or not he's received by it.)
Besides the start of the Vongola, Vongola and Cavallone doesn’t have much problems with each other. In canon we know Dino’s father and Timoteo had to be on somewhat good terms since Dino said he knew Timoteo ever since he has a kid.
Though Dino is 22 in canon when he said that being a kid for him could mean he knew Timoteo when he was 13-15 right when his father died hmmmmm
Yeah, that's absolutely possible. Maybe Dino has been knowing Timoteo since he was a little kid (2-5 years old) and here's a possibility that he might have met Xanxus as a child too!!! Maybe during this time Dino tried befriending Xanxus.
Look at me in the eyes and imagine: you are Dino, you know Vongola Nono has just welcomed a child. The child is a bit closed up, why would you not tryt and befriend this kid, since it seems that your dad and his dad are besties? Also kid! Xanxus, before all of the damage, COULD potentially be a relatively ok child to be around?
That until Xanxus gets the promise of being the new boss and the Cradle happens.
I bet Dino kind of misses when Xanxus was a relatively nice kid.
He tells Squalo and Squalo has a stroke just thinking of what a nice Xanxus could be.
But yeah, I see the Cavallone as kind of the outsiders of the Mafia world in KHR? Maybe the rest of the mafia families kind of see the Cavallone as a bunch of human golden retrievers, so they kind of forget that they have fangs and claws too.
EDIT: like, look at this:
Dino sees a poor starving child who is definitely not used to be in big mansions and has a fucking field trip in letting this kid know what every single room is for, showing him all the best playing spots, giving him the best sweets, etc whilst Vongola Nono and Cavallone Nono are like "aw, they get along so well!"
You seem to be under the impression that all of the tenth family have ancestral ties to the first generation when that’s never confirmed? The appearence and names are pure coincidence. or more like lazy character designs on the authors part. The only one with confirmed connections is Tsuna and Primo and there are hints of Asari and Yamamoto
Oh, I'm not under the impression of anything. I know its not "canon". My only mistake was really assuming that this was a fandom-wide belief that's my bad :( DSGSDG idk where I got the idea that it was. I do think that it's more fun to assume they are related just cause it's no fun to just chalk it up to bad character design. (Which it is, I'm not denying that!!) At least, this way we can make up fun theories about what happened :]
hi! i’ve been wanting to reread one of your fics specifically, but i can’t seem to find it. i can only remember it vaguely, but it’s about fran and Xanxus and some guy trying to follow fran into the restroom? i remember really liking it, but can’t seem to find it in either xanxus or fran’s tag. did you write this or am i crazy? thanks in advance, i love this blog!
I definitely did write it!
The chapter is called Family Dynamics, and I haven’t posted it here yet.
Here’s the link--it should take you directly to the chapter you want;
Hello! I ask that you read this before sending in an ask. Asks not adhering to this will be deleted.
I mainly do bullet point lists of headcanons, though I may write something as a flash fic if particularly inspired (you'll still get the bullet list too).
No NSFW. I'm not comfortable with it and will not answer asks with it.
Romantic stuff is absolutely ok!
Love anything platonic
Characters I do not write for: Vongola 10th gen guardians (including Mukuro and Chrome), Varia, and Longchamp
I do do matchups! The more info the better. I really don't care for your zodiac, MBTI, etc.
I will do events on occasion and they will have their own set of rules.
Please be patient. I live a busy life and run this blog for fun.
Hi friend~. I'm trying to figure out for my fic how Reborn would handle Ryohei being the chosen person to bond with over himself (especially as he grows more accepting of Tsuna being the Sky Arcobaleno). Like, would that man feel jealous? Can he feel jealous? Or is it more ego?
Hi there, thank you for your ask!
"Can he feel jealous? Or is it more ego?" < ZJZKSJS don't do my man like that. 😂 he can feel jealous all right if you ask me. and i just know he's so annoying and unreasonable about it too when he decides to act on it lmao. but i don't think it'd happen in this case, on account of ryohei only being 15 years old. and i mean, you can be jealous of anyone regardless of their age, of course, but also, you're supposed to be able to keep a hold of it and/or do away with it entirely through emotional self-regulation (? possibly not the right word for what i'm trying to express zfsdfs) as you grow older, especially when the target of your jealousy is much younger than you, you know? so yeah, however much he might feel jealous on the inside, which i wouldn't put past him and don't think would be out of character either, reborn's only human too in the end after all, it wouldn't show outwardly in the way he acts or interacts with ryohei, nor would he make it ryohei's problem (or tsuna's) to deal with.
as for his ego, reborn's definitely a man of ego, yeah. and i know sometimes he's made to have an inflated one (which i do think can be fun and isn't necessarily out of character depending on how it's framed and how it comes across), but tbh i think his ego is exactly as big as you'd expect someone of reborn's caliber to be. 🤷🏽♀️ like, imo one of reborn's core character traits is his self-awareness of exactly who he is and what he's capable of and how much he's already achieved and how impressive it is he has. he also knows exactly where he stands in comparison to others, especially when he's also really good at figuring out exactly what others are worth in their own right. that he then acts accordingly with others and views himself accordingly, well. he IS, in fact, all that, and has put in the work to be, so it's well within his right, really lol.
but because of that same logic, i also think it's rare for him to find himself caught up in his ego or for it to end up bruised and whatnot. in this case specifically, because again, ryohei's just 15 years old. which i also don't think is actually relevant to whether he can challenge reborn's ego or not lol, especially when we know reborn acknowledges his skills and how impressive they are and how impressive he is in his own right. but i just think having your ego bruised by a 15yo when you're a whole-ass grown man in and of itself is kind of embarrassing, and reborn's ego is just too classy to allow that to happen lmao.
mostly tho, there's the context of reborn being on a job as all this is happening. and reborn's nothing but a professional, prides himself on it. so if ryohei is the right sun to bond with tsuna? i just can't see him letting personal feelings interfere with it, let alone letting them lead him to sabotage it from happening. he simply wouldn't allow himself to take it personally however much personally he feels about it.
now that's all rational and all, but reborn, too, can't help but deal with emotions at times. and so i think that despite himself, he WOULD, in fact, end up treating ryohei a little differently than the other guardians. not the typical way you could expect, but the one way i could see it happen is for reborn to hold him to a higher standard than the others when it comes to training (because if he's gonna be tsuna's sun in his stead, he better do a damn good job at it and be deserving of it). not too high, but just that little higher it'd be noticeable by others, and by ryohei himself first and foremost. and the second way (lol) i could also see it happen is that when not training, although reborn wouldn't treat him any colder than the others, he would keep him at a greater distance compared to them. again, not by too much, but just enough it'd be noticeable. to give some examples, he'd stay in his company only as long as needed, and would avoid having to see him with tsuna as much as possible.
as for what happens inwards, yeah, he feels jealous for sure. tho not in a way that'd come across as... childish? or maybe immature. by which i mean, it wouldn't be along the lines of "it should be me, why can't it be me, he's stealing what should be mine from me, i could do so much better than him in his stead", but more along the lines of "why can't i have it just as easily as him, i could be his sun just as well as him too, he can't want to be tsuna's sun as badly and desperately as me". so like. there'd be a lot of bitterness and resentment (towards his own circumstances, that is, not directed at ryohei) to it i think, what with the arco curse and what it meant for his bond with luce and the scars (if not wounds, and maybe even ones that are still open and bleeding) it left him.
speaking of which, i think there'd also be some fears and insecurities, which would halt/slow down his own developing bond with tsuna. fears and insecurities along the lines of "does tsuna even want me as his sun? why would anyone want me the way i am now? would he even choose me over ryohei if he could, if i'd let him? what if i regret it once i become his sun? what if i go for it and it ends badly again?" which is why i believe tsuna would have to be the first one to take the first step of "let's give it a try, let's make it work". imo, the way you seem to have set up their dynamic so far within the overall context of your story, i think only after tsuna has given him the confidence of "of course i want you too, just as you are now, of course i'd always choose you over anyone else", reborn would allow himself to fully reach back in turn.
at which point, i like to believe he'd make sure to have a conversation with ryohei first before they make it official (< whatever that'd mean zfdsgfsd). (tsuna as well.) not anything overly serious or dramatic, but a simple matter of honesty and respect. "i didn't set out to steal your sky from you, but it's only fair for you to still resent me for it anyway" + "you may not believe me now, but trust me when i say you'll find yourself wanting to shine in another sky again". maybe some comfort and reassurance too. "you aren't lacking as a sun, but tsuna's simply grown much faster than you" + "you have yet to reach your full potential as a sun, and once you do, no one will even dare to think of stealing your sky from you". and of course, "i'm grateful you allowed tsuna to bask under your light and didn't leave him in complete darkness while we had yet to meet, and i'm forever in your debt for it".
and that should be all i can think of. which is already a lot of words zqfezqf, sorry if this is a little too much. but basically, as much as reborn couldn't help show some signs of his inner conflict, he'd mostly be able to keep it in check and wouldn't treat ryohei all that differently from canon. which is admittedly the narratively boring route to take haha, so feel free to take it in a completely different direction instead.
actually, depending on what you want to do with your fic and where you want to take it, not all of this or even any of it might apply or be right for it, so also feel free to pick and choose or even disregard everything i said as needed! but i do hope this was still helpful in some way haha.
I was giving it the benefit of the doubt because this was years ago but like that's absolutely Destroying his character ??
Like okay sure i might be overreacting but I remember being so shocked at seeing Takeshi up the roof, its a striking moment and when you realise that he attributed his entire personal worth to what people expect him to be and that he thought he was nothing when that got taken away momentarily, it makes you Weep for him and Then you can see his own personal growth of accepting his worth
Im sorry im very emotional about Takeshi even years down TwT
THEY REALLY DIDN'T. isn't that crazy???
like yeah, you've said it all and i totally agree. not showing it to us, not showing us the thought process behind it, not showing us what snaps him out of that mental state absolutely changes the understanding of his character the manga was going for. AND it also undermines his growth going forward, takes weight and meaning away from it. like when he sacrifices his arm to beat ken in the kokuyo arc. like yeah, you still know it is a sacrifice from him for the sake of helping tsuna in the name of their friendship, but you don't know it's a sacrifice in the sense where not too long ago, he was ready to kill himself over a similar injury.
and thinking about it more while i'm typing this, it also undermines his relationship with tsuna and changes both the understanding of their dynamic and of tsuna himself. like if iirc in the anime it's all about how tsuna is this suddenly capable guy who beats moshida in kendo and helps his team win in volleyball, so yams is all like, "haha, fun. let me keep hanging out with you a bit more!" and like. no!!!!!!!! and i mean, yes, that does also play a part in what catches yams' attention about tsuna in the manga, but that's not the point at all.
it was all about how in his pov, tsuna was suddenly making a comeback from rock bottom, while he himself wasn't seeing any way out of his broken arm when he'd always been at the top. it was about how he'd always been at the top, and how scared he was it wouldn't matter anymore at all if he failed at staying there even once. how scared he was he wouldn't be worth anything anymore at all if he failed at staying at the top even once.
it was about how tsuna saw him at his rock bottom and said to him "yes, of course you still have worth even now. you can fail at times, and it won't ever make you any less worth it.". it was about how tsuna saw him at his rock bottom and said to him "this, too, is just another proof of how hard you're always working, and it's so impressive of you. i know this, too, is still you doing your best, and it's enough.".
like? i know you get it so i'll stop rambling now haha but i just. i mean, i do get they couldn't just show his suicide attempt like that, but to erase all of his internal struggles entirely like that?? a complete disservice to his character, to say the least.
