Gabba Gabba Hey! The Pound at Extra Place is Where?!
While at the Red Hook Lobster Pound at 16 Extra Place constructing a gigantic 5lb Lobster Roll for a Thrillist.com’s “Best Day Ever” contest winner, tourists kept coming done the public alley to take pictures standing in front of the brick wall. So I asked Jackson why people were doing that. He said “Well that used to be the old CBGBs.” I still didn’t understand. Jackson just shook his head and explained “We’re basically standing in the Ramone’s first album cover...” What?! We’re hip New Yorkers so of course we totally waited until the tourists cleared the alley but it was decided right there on the spot we had to recreate our own Ramones album cover photo. Visit the Red Hook Lobster Pound at 16 Extra Place in the East Village (or behind the old CBGBs). We have punk street cred and the best lobster rolls in the city.
