Week 5′s Football Games at the Pound

1:00 Seattle Seahawks vs. Cincinnati Bengals Are the Legion of Boom back for real with the return of Kam Chancellor?  Are the Bengals an actual contender in the AFC?  Can Andy Dalton actually go out in sunshine without immediately getting a sunburn?  These questions are answered with lobster at 1:00 in the Pound!

4:25 Denver Broncos vs. Oakland Raiders

Sunday will be a big day for young Oakland Quarterback Derek Carr going against Peyton Manning, his boyhood hero.  Because Peyton is old, very old.  Manning might have a noodle arm, a bad neck and Methuselah-like moves in the pocket but the Denver D is exciting and Oakland is scrappy and we’ll be serving lobster during this exciting AFC West matchup!

8:30 San Fransisco 49ers vs. New York Giants

Things are shaping up perfectly for the Giants this year, it’s just like 2007.  As the Patriots seem to be on the path to an undefeated season and everyone is convinced Tom Coughlin is washed up and Eli Manning is a goober, the Giants are turning it around and they facing the 49ers and this guy sunday.

Lucky the Lobster’s Football Picks

This past weekend every game we featured on our 119″ projector screen we let a lobster named “Lucky” to pick the winners and Lucky had a mediocre showing.  

In the 1:00 game Lucky picked the Bills over the Giants by 3.  Wrong Lucky.  

In the 8:30 game Lucky picked the Cowboys over the Saints and promised Drew Brees would not play.  Drew Brees played and the Cowboys lost.  Wrong again Lucky. Lucky also picked the Broncos over the Vikings in the 4:30 game but lost on the spread.  Janice in the HR department lost her shirt betting with Lucky’s prognostications.  Therefore Lucky the Lobster will not be making any football picks for next weekend. That reminds me - this Wednesday and every Wednesday we serve our $25 Lobster Dinner Special with all the Fixings!

We’re Letting a Lobster Pick Sunday’s Games

Here are the games we’re featuring this Sunday at the Red Hook Lobster Pound in lovely Red Hook.  To make things interesting we’re letting a Maine Lobster prognosticate Sunday’s winners much like Punxsutawney Phil the Groundhog predicts weather in February.  Here are the Lucky Lobster’s picks:

1:00 New York Giants at the Buffalo Bills

The Giants are looking to gain position in the weakened NFC East but they have to go through Ralph Wilson Stadium and face Rex Ryan’s scrappy Bills.  The Lucky Lobster picks the Bills by a field goal.

4:00 Minnesota Vikings at the Denver Broncos

Look at Von Miller’s face...  How can you root against that face, those glasses or Broncos Defense at home when they go against the Vikings?  The Lucky Lobster picks Broncos by 6.

8:30 Dallas Cowboys at New Orleans Saints

Fans at the old Superdome in New Orleans are going to be asking “Who dat?!” when the backup quarterbacks for both teams take the field.  The Lucky Lobster is picking against the spread for the underdog Cowboys.  It only makes sense a crustacean would appreciate the protective shell of a good offensive line.

Games du Jour at the Pound

1:00 Game du Jour: New England vs. Jacksonville This weekend we will have excellent selections of the NFL on our giant projector screen.  The 1:00 Game du Jour will be the New England Patriots vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars.  This game will feature the most hated team outside of New England versus the upstart underdogs from Jacksonville, one team with a coach that resembles Emperor Palpatine versus a team who’s quarterback might be a Pokemon.  Who shall prevail: the Dark Lord of the Sith or Japanese Anime cuteness?

8:00 Game du Jour: Denver vs. Detroit

The 8:30 Game du Jour will be the Denver Broncos versus the Detroit Lions featuring Von Miller and the vaunted Denver D.  Von Miller is looking for hugs this Sunday and he’s looking at you Stafford...

Dear Chip Kelly, Here are two things you should know: 1. We love football at the Red Hook Lobster Pound!  So much so we are playing NFL games on our 119″ projector screen every Thursday and Sunday at the original pound in Red Hook and offering Game Day Food & Drink Specials like Old Bay Hot Wings, Lobster Sliders, $5 beers on tap and more!

2. While watching your Philadelphia Eagles face-off against the Dallas Cowboys last night at the Pound the head of our HR department volunteered to help you write a resume.  She’s convinced you’ll need one soon.

8:30 Game du Jour at the Pound

We don’t know why Marshawn Lynch doesn’t talk at press conferences but we really wish he would.  Everything he says is comedy gold - just like his teeth.  Marshawn Lynch is like the O.D.B. of the NFL and we adore him at the Pound.  Not only is he entertaining off the field, he’s actually more exciting on the field and that’s why the Seattle Seahawks vs. the Green Bay Packers is the 8:00 Game du Jour at the Red Hook Lobster Pound this Sunday.  We’re going to have this handsome mug on our 119′ projector screen with Game Day Drink and Food Specials.  So where are you going to be Sunday night?

Who’s Sexier in the AFC East?

The Game du Jour at the original Pound in Red Hook this Sunday at 1:00 will be the defending New England Patriots versus the upstart Buffalo Bills with the great defense.  This game will determine early dominance in the AFC East but more importantly it could finally determine who’s sexier: “Sexy Rexy” Ryan or Tom “Beiber” Brady.  We all know who Donald Trump is voting for. Come to the Pound this Sunday.  We’ll have the lobster you already love plus Game Day Food & Drink Specials and the game on the big projector screen! Because we love lobster AND football!

Congratulations Peyton & the Broncos

Recent posts on the Red Hook Blogster have slightly disparaged Peyton Manning to promote the game we played last night on our big projector screen at the original Pound in Red Hook.  If you were at the Pound last night and watched that amazing game (while enjoying our Game Day Drink & Food Specials) you were definitely entertained and got to enjoy a thrilling comeback by Peyton and his Broncos in the last two minutes of the game.

So we would like to go on the record to say nice things about Peyton Manning today.  Peyton Manning is a champion, has astronaut good looks and is the funniest quarterback to ever appear on SNL.

Thanks Peyton for the great game last night and the good time at the Pound!

Red Hook Lobster Pound Opens in UrbanSpace’s Vanderbilt Location

The Pound has opened in the brick-and-mortar location of 45th and Vanderbilt.  You will be able to find our old favorites you love like our classic Maine-Style Lobster Roll in addition to an oyster bar, beer and wine.  Come check us out, we’ll be open Monday through Friday 11:00 to 9:00 and 11:00 to 5:00 on the weekends. Andy Reid Would Like You To Know...

...the Red Hook Lobster Pound will be playing the football game tomorrow night at the Pound in Red Hook.  Andy’s been on a diet but he doesn’t want that to stop you from having the Game Day Food Specials like Lobster Sliders, Old Bay Hot Wings, Jalepeno Poppers or anything else.  He would also like you to have a drink special for him too.  

Andy cares about your enjoyment and promises the game between his Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos will be entertaining even if Peyton Manning hasn’t scored an offensive touchdown since last season.

Gabba Gabba Hey! The Pound at Extra Place is Where?!

While at the Red Hook Lobster Pound at 16 Extra Place constructing a gigantic 5lb Lobster Roll for a Thrillist.com’s “Best Day Ever” contest winner, tourists kept coming done the public alley to take pictures standing in front of the brick wall.  So I asked Jackson why people were doing that.  He said “Well that used to be the old CBGBs.”  I still didn’t understand.  Jackson just shook his head and explained “We’re basically standing in the Ramone’s first album cover...” What?!  We’re hip New Yorkers so of course we totally waited until the tourists cleared the alley but it was decided right there on the spot we had to recreate our own Ramones album cover photo. Visit the Red Hook Lobster Pound at 16 Extra Place in the East Village (or behind the old CBGBs).  We have punk street cred and the best lobster rolls in the city.
