So I was dancing to Queen in my underwear just now (which isnt the point) but I didnt know my curtains was open and my neighbour saw me and that was painfully awkward.
Spent yesterday walking through Chinatown, shooting the last of eight portrait sessions for the Chinese American Museum's upcoming show (more on that when I can actually post some of the portraits).
Realized I'd never walked down those streets before, which then tumbled the next domino of realizing that I've never walked down so many of the streets of my city. That there are large sections completely unknown to me, in both geography and character. I was fortunate enough to be with two cats who knew a lot about the area, who pointed out places they'd eat as children, places that were gone, places that were changed.
Hanging out with fellow LA natives, yet natives of different areas of town. What you get from that is the history that hides down deep, that can't be seen for all the shiny new buildings. The history of this town is as much in the memories of its residents as it is in any actual buildings.
I probably can't tell you what I did last week, but I can tell you about the hot dog stands that used to be, the liquor store I spent my youth buying gum in, the gas station that became wicked futuristic for no reason, the frozen yogurt shop craze and where it started, the empty lots that used to be apartments that used to be empty lots, and on and on.
It's a different trip here, hanging with a native.
just finished stalking my mom's facebook...
well actually more like just finished stalking other people from my mom's facebook (since i don't have one anymore). what's the big deal about facebook anyway? it's really boring now. i'm actually kind of glad i deactivated my account awhile ago. the only reason i would even reactivate it is just so i can get my pictures back. there are so many pictures that i uploaded to facebook that were lost when our first laptop crashed and everything was erased. other than that, i'm not even considering reactivating my account. it's just a waste of time. not that tumblr isn't a waste of time, because it kind of is, but it's way more addicting than facebook lol.
