Update on the XR600R. After the fuel problems I thought I was done for a while. Apparently it didn't think so. Now I'm dealing with a leaky side cover. No big deal, but it's still taxing. I rode 60 miles yesterday and I got home and oil had splattered all over my rim and tire, soaked the skid plate and drizzled all over in my garage. The bike runs great, but this sucks. I think a gasket kit is in my future. Tires will have to wait. -_-
Though, I did put 30 miles on dirt and it was great. I need new tires pretty bad. I was sliding all over the place. I'm still new to dirt riding, but I know bad when I feel it. The power of this bike is great off road. I recently geared it up a bit to get some better road speed but it didn't really seem to negatively effect the off road ability. I was using the stock 14/48 and I'm running a 14/45 now. I may go back to the 48 and just use a 15 in the front. A front sprocket is much easier to replace in my experience. I'm in the market for dual sport tires that aren't worthless on sand and gravel, but also last a while on the street. I've seen some Shinko's in my price range, but I've heard they aren't that good. I guess I'll just have to try them out to know for sure.
