19 Sept 1944, Wing Cdr Guy Gibson, died in action, aged 26. Born in Simla, India. Led RAF 617 Squadron in Operation Chastise, Dambusters raid, for which he was awarded Victoria Cross, becoming at time most highly decorated British serviceman. Completed 170+ operations. #WW2

Killed in action 19 September 1944, Wing Commander Guy Penrose Gibson, VC, DSO & Bar, DFC & Bar. First Commanding Officer of the RAF's 617 Squadron, with which he led the "Dam Busters" raid in 1943.
