“Do you think Lando’s alright?” George asks, abrasive to his own ears after several minutes of nothing but the clinking of dishes and the tap running.

“Hm?”

“Well— he’s been acting a bit odd, that’s all.”

Alex pauses in his mission to find a matching lid for the container of leftovers to turn towards George.

“I dunno, I think he’ll be fine once he’s let himself panic about how it’ll fuck up our lease or whatever. I mean, how would you feel if you walked in on me and him?” He turns back to their overflowing tupperware drawer, humming to himself.

George laughs, too loud. He can feel the flush creeping up his neck against his will; somehow, he thinks, he’s revealed far more than if he’d just kept his mouth shut and washed the dishes.
