Maximiliano Córdoba has grown up on his abuelo's stories (or Buelo) as he calls him. From those stories his learned important family and local history lessons, ones he will come to rely on when he's called to stand in for his father.

On either side of the border there are two tweens who are forming an unlikely friendship.

The conceit throughout is that babies before they are born live in saltwater environments in the womb. What if the sea could reclaim them and give them a life they were denied by those who threw their mothers overboard?

The school has an annual tradition celebrating the Boney Hand, the skeletal remains of John Bone, a founding father and known pirate.

Josie and Alec both live at 444 Sparrow Street. They share the same room. But Josie is living in 1915 and Alec is living in 2015.
