Day 516: The Whispers of 10,000 Generations (by Gavin Lee McDaniel) uh-oh writer’s block!! got home later than i wanted and it was hot, hot, hot at the practice place. Ate dinner, while watching half an episode of Lie To Me then sat at the recorder and none of the beats spoke to me... couldn’t find a sample i liked for the casio so i grabbed the dr-05 and started searching for inspiration and... fell asleep. However, before nodding off i did discover the root for this slight detour. The base recording is of the circus train pulling into town at about 11 at night. My pal Mick and I had just finished jamming at Morgan Storage and we walked downstairs to discover an infinitely long train preventing our egress from the lot. While waiting i took the DR05 near to the tracks and hit record and that’s the skeleton for today’s groove. it’s actually 3x the train as it’s down with a different starting point solo, with the drums, and with the “bass” track. It’s also sampled and is the secondary percussion track. Title is from a speech given by Tai Lopez in the 67 Steps series of lectures.
