[Cody keeps her hands tightly gripping the edge of the board, treading water as the waves rumble past.  She glances toward the backline behind her, making certain her pupil will have a clear path.  They’d spent the afternoon practicing pop ups on the sand, then paddling through the whitewater to shore.  Now it was time for Avi to piece it all together.  Cody has faith.  And she can see a perfectly sized swell start bubble a short distance away. ]

Sweet, we got one, babe!  I’m gonna give you a push, and just keep paddling til it grabs you.  Then pop up!  

[She looks back once more, excited laughter in crescendo.]

Just a few more seconds, get ready!

been a little over a week of being your girlfriend, and i havent felt so stoked for something since winning my first big competition.  i wanted to give you a gesture of my gratitude for choosing me. a beautiful girl deserves a vase of beautiful flowers, but you’re not just a girl, you’re cody lawson’s girl.  so here’s a voong of beautiful flowers, with some mary j from oahu in the little box with the stem.
