How has your opinion of social media changed from doing this project? Some people look at social media negatively – how would you argue with them that it can be useful and educating?

my perspective in social media changed completely since I started working in this project. at the beginning I thought social media was a waste of time and it was useless, but after actually trying it I think it's a good and a new to work on projects.

I do realize that many people still have their doubts about social media, but I have many logical reasons that might change their minds just like how I changed my mind about it. with social media you can connect with the world around you, and find out what is going on. social media is also an easy and a fast ways to communicate with your family and friends. and there are many more positives in using social media, and I think the best way to find out what are they, is by trying it.

Do you like Christopher? What about his father? And his mother? Are they good people? Do you sympathize them when they behave unskilfully, or blame them for their faults?

Christopher is my favorite character in the book, Christopher shows that he can be independent throughout the novel, and through much of the novel we watch as Christopher gains the confidence to help himself. I'm not a fan of both of his parents they both say that they care about Christopher, but to me I don't think they care enough otherwise Christopher's mom would never leave and Christopher's father would never lie to his own son.

I do blame Christopher's parents for their faults, what they both did was absolutely wrong. But I do believe in second chances and they both deserve it, even though they hurt Christopher.

Social Media

Social media is definitely obvious by now on how it can be used as an educational way. Interacting with other people and sharing ideas and opinions is definitely benefiting us as students. Though, somehow, people still view Social Media as a negative environment. I do some what agree because Cyber Bullying is very common, and serious accidents are happening due to that. But we should always look at the bright side of things. Ans as @ainourrz68 mentioned, every thing has its negatives and positives. Social media does contain negative contents, but also there are people out there learning and studying through social media.

Christopher and his family

Christopher:

I really like Christopher’s character, mainly because he’s determined to get over any obstacles that are in his way. He’s also ambitious despite his disorder, for example how he’s taking A level Math's, and how he wants to be an astronaut.  Another thing I really like about Christopher is that he’s straightforward in a way that can turn out to be rude sometimes and it’s funny because he does it unintentionally. Christopher acknowledges the fact that he doesn’t understand certain things due to his disorder, but at the same time he tries to complete really small things without having his disorder stopping him from doing so. For example, when he added red food coloring to his food that was yellow, just so that he could eat it. I do not sympathize with Christopher for his disorder because he’s come to terms with it and how some things are out of his control. But I do sympathize with him for what he’s been through and how he found out that his father turned out to be not how he believed his father was. And how after all this time he finds out that his mother is alive and he travels all alone and overcomes his adversity

 Christopher’s Father (Ed):

My opinions of Christopher’s father have changed a lot throughout the novel. At first I liked his character and he seemed caring and loving towards Christopher. I continued to feel this way about Ed until later on when Christopher found out about the letters his mom has been writing to him the past couple of years, that father hid. I started to think of Ed as suspicious in some way, and I was shocked that he’s hid this from Christopher all along. But I figured that as a protective father he was careful about what he told Christopher and what he didn’t in respect to his disorder. I personally think that maybe it was the right thing to do, at least until Christopher was old enough. However later on when we discovered that Ed killed Wellington there was no justification to do such thing. I hated father for not having the transparency that he pretended to have with Christopher. Although, I do sympathize Christopher’s father for his behavior because he has shown lots of love towards Christopher yet at the same time he messed up quite a lot. And I think that it’s because he was trying his best to deal with Christopher and his disorder in the best way possible.

Christopher’s Mother (Judy):

As for Christopher’s mother I think that leaving her son was what she saw as the right thing to do, and it might’ve been the right thing or not. Both ways Judy was thousands of miles away from Christopher but we could still tell that she loved him despite leaving him. Although she left Christopher, she made sure that they stayed in touch through the letters that she sent, and father ended up hiding. Also, when she met Christopher after he arrived she welcomed him and took good care of him. She was especially careful of not repeating her past mistakes and controlling herself to not shout at him or hit him. However, I wouldn’t sympathize with her because no matter what Christopher is her son and she shouldn’t leave him for any reason whatsoever.

Social Media

I’ve always thought that social media is both a positive and negative, and it all depends on the user. After using Tumblr for school I started realizing how useful and educational social media platforms can be. I’ve learnt to share my opinions and views on certain topics in the best way possible, since it was out there for everyone to read. It also allowed me to read the opinions of others regarding the same topic, which made me acknowledge that it’s completely fine if people have different opinions. With that, I was able to argue with some but in a way where I wasn’t offending anyone or bashing them. And I’ve gained these skills through a project that was based on a social media platform. Plus, it was a lot more interesting and unique since it was on Tumblr instead of just writing essays on paper.

Yes, social media can be a bad tool, if misused. But generalizing and saying social media is negative is completely wrong. It can be used in the wrong way, for instance if someone was bullied online, or just wasting your time on it and prioritizing it over assignments. Speaking of its perks, social media can be useful and educating too. It can help us learn new things about a variety of topics from just a click. It’s also a great place to share your thoughts if you find it difficult to communicate your words to people face to face. In the end, it all depends on the user and how they decide to use social media.

Pick and scene from the novel then add music to it. Write a paragraph about how that song would work well with this particular scene from the book.

I choose “Here with me,” by Susie Suh x Robot Koch, and the scene when Christopher found the letters, because this song is showing that his mother was always there with him, and this song shows both happy and sad. Happy, because his mom isn’t dead. Sad because this is the truth that his Father was lying about the entire time. And not that his Father came and told him, but he found it out himself.

I like Christopher, he is my favorite character in the book, because he is filled with adventure, and determination. He is always willing to do what he wants, no matter what comes in his way. For example, in the book, Christopher went looking for his mother, though the police had to come in his way, but he didn’t let them catch him, he was brave enough to handle this situation by his own and continue his journey with him full of determination. In my point of view, Christopher is a good person because he is always doing the best he can to understand and co-operate with the people around him. He also cares for his father, and understands him and forgives him whenever he would accidentally get his anger on him. I don’t blame Christopher for the mistakes he has done, because its always his Syndrome coming in his way, and he never chose to be born this way. 

Father is a good guy to me too, because he really cares for Christopher, and does everything to make him happy and to keep him safe. I also like him, and think he’s a good guy, because he stayed for Christopher when his mom didn’t, and did everything to make sure he was okay. Even though sometimes he would get mad at him or upset, but that’s because he loves him. And even when he lied to Christopher about his mother’s death, that was because he loved him and he couldn’t just tell him that his mom left him. I don’t blame Father for lying to Christopher, because he only did this because he knew that it wouldn’t sound right if he told Christopher that his mom left him.  

Mother, to me, is a bad person because she was the reason Christopher escaped his safe house, and she left him, and didn’t bother to cope with his Syndrome as much as Father did. The least she could have done is stay and show Christopher that she cared. But she chose to leave him and Father. I do blame her for what She did because this decision was between her hands and she chose to leave.

Opinion On Social Media

Many people have the idea that Social Media is a time waster instilled in their mind. I think it’s not Social Media that has disadvantages, it’s a person’s actions on Social Media that are wrong. I was one of those people that thought Social Media was huge time-waster but using Tumblr for an English project changed my perspective an taught me that that anything can be helpful and advantageous when used in a right and advantageous way. I enjoyed showing my opinion in different ways and listening and arguing with other classmates’ opinions. I acquired lots of new skills, like how to analyze characters and how to respectively argue with a person. I also learned that two opposing opinions could both be right based on how a person views things. I also think that this project helped me improve my writing a lot by reading another person’s post and learning from it. Overall I think that this project is an example that Social Media can actually be educating, useful and fun if used in the proper way.
