Alr, a question, if you don't mind

How similar do you think Hoopa and Hero are in 7s? As in, how much do you think they parallel each other?

Asking for a short animatic that I'm making to 'test the waters', so to speak

Hoopa and Hero both represent aspects of the Ego. Lucario’s dialogue about this always stays consistent regardless of which route you take.

I think that Hoopa and the Hero might be the true antagonists of the game. The Hero’s real intentions haven’t been exposed yet, except for subtle pieces of dialogue through the tower. What’s odd is that they actually show real resentment and anger, which is the opposite of how Hero behaved in Special Episode 0 and in the original Explorers of Sky.

One thing that really stands out: whenever someone’s ego is sacrificed, your partner (who represents the soul) is visibly distressed. Meanwhile, the Hero insists it was a necessary step forward since they’re the leader of your team. Idk, I think this mirrors Hoopa’s attitude and actions almost exactly.

So here are a few theories I have on why the Hero is acting out of character:

1. Either the Hero has always been this way, or they’re this way because they’ve been shaped by their experiences. We just never saw their true colors until now.

2. They’re being controlled or influenced by some force within the tower.

3. Plot twist: The Hero is Darkrai.

How many years is implied to pass as hero and partner reach the story in Seven Symphonies? Or at least, what do you think?

As far as canon PMD, hero and partner begin the story as kids, as Sunflora has bits in the game where she refers to them as such and how Bidoof acts as an older mentor to them, but also being rather young himself. Also Wigglytuff and Chatot tend to treat them as such too.

Maybe 13 or younger for the two is my guess. The entirety of the events in the main story all occur in a few months (or less), as implied(?) in SE0 and canon itself. In the months that hero disappears, and with the graduation exam, it's probably been a year or so since the main story. All the post game stuff, I'm not sure. But let's say 1-3 more years, and after all that, hero and partner get to evolve in Luminous Spring.

Then, the creator of both romhacks mentioned above says that the events of Seven Symphonies take place some years after the main story. Hence the older Manaphy, hero and partner seemingly more mature, and most of the rest of the cast treating them not as kids, but as adults (though that could be because they're fully-evolved) But the question is, how long exactly?

Sorry if this is so long. The story, the suspense—it's just that good.

Omg do not feel bad at all! As someone who has put in 60 hours and played seven symphonies four separate times (I am mentally unwell) i adore these!

Yes, I’d estimate it takes place a few years after the main story as well. Pinpointing an exact timeframe is tricky for sure, especially since Manaphy ages so quickly in Explorers—from the time they’re taken back to the sea after falling ill to when they return to Treasure Town to join the team. I do definitely think hero and partner are much more mature as far as personality goes.

Baxcalibur still refers to them as youngsters though, so that’s something! Maybe this will become more clear as the story goes on.
